I got a call again today that they have to move my date to Dec 8th tentatively.
I have went over all my info that i received from the  nutritionist meeting however, there is no information on the hospital stay. I was wondering approx how long we are in for? 5-7 days rings a bell? and what kind of packing?  i assume sweat pants and tees kind of thing? someone had mentioned a while ago to bring gas x strips so i have those..

Any help would be appreciated !

I had heard that Dr. Nohr normally does his surgeries on Mondays and discharges on the Friday, but now that he's doing them on Wednesdays, I'm not sure what he'll do.

Good Morning,  I'm having my surgery by Dr. Nohr on Monday, when the pre-op called they said surgery on Monday and if all goes well discharge on Saturday.  Your only allowed a small suitcase and you need your toiletries, housecoat and slippers and stuff like that and also something comfy for going home.  Arlene

Ok so I had to call the office to confirm my new date Dec 8th!! sneaking up fast..

she said six days in so I'm in on wednesday, monday I should be released but that I had to stay in town another 3 nights!  because of some tube i'll still have.. has anyone else heard of that? can't i just go back on the 3rd day? what a stressful time rearanging work, school, kids, family social.. lol I'm sure it will all be worth it in the end ;)

warm housecoat? or cool shorty? when i had my girls i found those hospitals sooo hot!

That's weird about having to stay an extra 3 days? The only tube I no of is the ng but that should be out on your Monday, are you having open or lap? That might be the difference. But I don't no! Arlene

Ahhhhh yes! I forgot about how hot I was in the hospital too. They brought me in a huge stand up fan that I had on constantly. You could ask them for one.

If they're talking about the jp drain tube.... if there's nothing coming out of it when you're released they'll pull that sucker out before you go home. You WILL go home with the feeding tube still in, and your family doc will pop it out when he takes out your staples.

I took my warm housecoat with me.... it was like having a blankie wrapped around me when I wandered the halls.

When I spoke with Dr. Nohr's office last week she mentioned 6 day hospital stay plus 3 nights after that.  My surgery is Dec 6 and my return flight is Dec 15.

I am interested in what people are packing to bring with them though - I have no idea!!  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi Dori!

Hospital stay? You get admitted Monday, surgery same day, then you'll probably get out Friday or Saturday. I got sprung on Friday, which was actually Good Friday. lol Things to take with you --- socks, crocs (for walking the halls and stuff), housecoat if you have one, and something loose and comfy for the ride home. I did also bring my own pillow from home (which helped me to be comfy as I slept), ipod (to watch movies and to get online.... the hospital does have wireless internet), shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste, make up (I did NOT want to be seen without my face on! lol), hairbrush. You won't want to wear anything but their gowns while you're in the hospital. They're big, comfy, and roomy. Oh.... bring some body lotion with you cause you might get lucky and have the same nurse I did who actually asked if I had lotion and wanted a back rub my first night there!!!! The student nurses there are soooooooo awesome too!!! You will not be able to drink ANYTHING until Thursday when your leak test is done. You will be given swabs to keep your mouth moist though. I wouldn't worry about Gas-X strips.

Hope this helps you out!

*hugs*
