Hi everyone!

I'm so excited and couldn't wait to share with you all.

I've secured a space for hooping classes and I'm just sharing and spreading the word so that I can get back to the coordinator.

The class will be a very body positve class, where all body types, ages and abilities are represented.  Bring your sense of humour and a smile (and your hoop if you have one!)

Class will be starting mid-November

Beginner level 1 hooping class
(pre-registration is Required, this is not a drop in class)

Sundays 8pm
Kings University College Gymnasium
6 weeks
One hour class each time
$60.00

I will be teaching:
waist/hip hooping
maintaining at the waist and saving the hoop
moving and walking/stepping with the hoop
lifts and drops
off the body moves
arm hooping
a few combinations as the class starts to master the skills taught.

They have been so supportive of my initiative, as a bariatric patient I just want to get us all moving and having fun.  It's excellent that I've been able to book this premium space for us to have classes in!

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE CONSULTED WITH YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT THIS OR ANY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY BEFORE REGISTERING.

If you are interested in starting this journey with me and joining a hooping class, please send me a message.

Hi Dreena...Of course I'm interested.   I'm not thrilled with the day and time though.  (just cause of belly dancing) And I wonder about starting it and going into the Christmas season.  But if that's the best we can do for now...count me in....

Hi Nancy,

Yes, Sunday is the only day that I was able to obtain gym space and keep the cost reasonable for people.  Same with the time....I could have time smack dab in the middle of suppertime, but I'm not going for that! We should all be having a nice dinner, taking care of our nutrition needs and having some time with the family!

As things move towards the springtime, there is a chance that I might be able to obtain slightly different schedule, but the location is so amazing, the faculty so supportive.  I'm in!

Just for my own information, do you want to send me a message with what other times you'd be interested in? Weeknights?  Suggestions? Do I have your email?   If I get enough people for an alternative day I can do some forward planning!  I'll look for your message :)

As I'm able to grow I look forward to being able to offer options!  :)

Christmas season, the coordinator is understanding of this, so there is probably the week before Christmas we'd break (I'd know the exact dates soon) and then we'd resume after CHristmas to work off our turkey.

I've had an amazing whirlwind of a week which i'm excited about.  I'm almost too nervous to share what has happened this week but here goes:

*Space was approved for hooping.

*Staff coordinator very excited to hear my journey as a bariatric patient breaking down barriers and stereotypes and teaching a hoopfit class.

*Invited to show the hoops and speak at the upcoming EBSG meeting (thanks Dawn!)

* approached by media (is this really my life?  I'm the heavy girl who used to hide in gym class!)

* NaitTV news reporter sent me a message and wants to do a story on me, my journey and hooping!  She will be interviewing me, my husband (and anyone who is excited about the class, or has one of our hoops, or knows me) the second week of November (ack!)

You are all part of my success, your support to me in the forums has been wonderful.
You've been so friendly and warm.  I'm actually a very shy person, and if I hadn't met such wonderful people, I would not have taken these risks to make these extra changes and challenges in my life.  For the better.  For fun!

I may be the first heavy girl to teach a fitness class of sorts, and I plan to inspire and be inspired.

THanks everyone.  I was going to hold back and not say anything...so I hope it's ok!  I'm so happy right now.

xo

Dreena,

I have to say this is amazing. I so wished I lived in the city cause I'd definitely be there. It's amazing the support we get here on line and how it changes our lives.

This past week I meet Dawn and her Husband and I am amazed with the 2 of them, they are beautiful people inside and out.  They both seem excited to have you at the meeting doing your hoop demo.

Good Luck girlie.
