Mexician Chili & Bean Casserole
1pkg Gound Chicken
2 can Kidney beans
1 can Tomatoe Sauce (250ml size)
120ml Salsa
5ml Chili & Cayenne Powder
1 Clove Garlic
1C Shredded cheese
Make 4 regular servings, of course for us it'll last a lot longer.

Cook ground chicken over medium heat until no longer pink. In a 2l casserol dish mix cooked ground chicken with remaining ingredient except cheese. Cover and bake @ 375 for 40-45 minutes.  Remove from oven sprinkle with the cheese and put back in the oven to bake until cheese is melted.

Note:
1/2 c of the ground chicken is 22 grams of protein
1/2 cup of kidney bean is 6 grams of protein
1/2 cup of cheese has about 32 grams of protein

Definitely a high protein Chili.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't.  Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened.  My Surgery was September 21/2010

Still have to watch your calories though.
I know I can't eat 1/2 c chkn AND beans AND cheese. So in a1/2c of chili we don't get near that amount if protein. 1/2c ground chkn is 160cal .1/2c kidney beans are about the same maybe but give great fibre. 1/3c of mozzarella cheddar is 90 cal.
Just be sure to watch the salt intake too.

I find I can't do chili like I once did. I've been eating ALOT of venison ! It's so lean & incredibly healthy not to mention full of protein & easy to digest.

Kim I can't eat 1/2 cup of anything unless its liquid and it still takes forever to get it down. But that was the specks on the recipe. If you halfed it all including the calories your serving of a 1/4 cup  would be around 185 calories and still 22 grams of protein. I showed My NUT the recipe and she said it would be an awesome protein choice.
I for one don't have to worry about the calories cause I'm not eating enough so at my appt I got the "talk". I have to add carbs, fruit and vegetable to my day and try to get more calories in. I normally eat 200-300 a day and that's not enough. At this point in the game I already have low protein and they are concerned. My body is already using it's own protein for energy and so by adding the carbs apparently my body will burn the carbs first and allow some of my protein to store hopefully meaning my protein levels will increase. My vitamin D, B12, Magnesium and Iron are also low.
My normal diet consist of  tuna, eggs, chili, pea soup, beans, cheese. I've been scared to try new after my last experience but I know I have too cause I'm being watched more closely and they'll be doing an at home phone call to check up on me. I don't think I can do venison, I use to love it but since moving out here I've lost the taste for it. Couldn't even eat it when I went home on holidays. Since surgery there are alot of things that don't taste like they use to. I tried Cherrio's yesterday and gross, turned my stomach cause they were so sweet.
Anyway after my long post I'll say I hope all is well with you. Take care.

I'm in the same boat in regards to my food intake. I talked to one of the NUTS on Friday and I went grocery shopping last night and tried to grab a few high protein items last night so we'll see how I do.
