The Wait
Hello Tani,
I am seeing Dr. Farries. Best Decision I ever made. I was put on the List May 3rd 2010, Had my first Consult on June 14th 2010, was approved for Surgery Sept 20 2010, and now I am waiting for my surgery date but I was told by his nurse to expect a January date. They say the Average wait time from 1st consult until surgery is 8-10 months. He puts you on a special diet and wants you to lose at least 10% of your body weight. After your first consult you will see either Dr. Farries or his nurse once a month until you have surgery and your weighed everytime you step foot into his office. You have to keep a food journal everyday until surgery and he will send you for a few test depending on your situation, Everyone goes for a gastroscopy and a Psychiatric evaluation, has blood work done and an ECG. Christine will also book you for a PACS(Pre-Admission clinic) appointment once you've been approved for Surgery. It a ball of fun. There is a support group that meets once a month of Pre and Post surgery Pt of Dr. Farries thats alot of fun.
Dr. Farries is a great Dr, but he is an upfront and honest kinda guy...this is a serious life altering change and he takes it seriously!! Follow the rules ( No excuses ) and you'll be ok. He has a great team, I'm sure you will do great, message me if you have any question or if I can help with Anything.
