So I'm 3 weeks post op and I'm struggling with my food intake.
I'm looking for anyone post-op that can give me a run down of your day , what type of protein powder you use if any , what you eat etc. I feel like I have no variety in my diet .

I have gained 3 lbs in the last 1.5 weeks and I'm hoping it's just my body adjusting but it's hard to juggle calories, protein counts, water, horse pills-- all while NOT feeling hungry!!! My protein range is supposed to be 65-75g and somedays I get 52 and other days 79.....I'm wanting to be a success and I feel already like I'm failing!

Any advice or a sample of your daily menu would be awesome!

My menu varies. Some days I'm doing good and others (like this past week) not so much. What I did is I made a bunch of meals and divided them up in the small snack size glad freezer containers. One of those gives me about 1/2 cup of food.

for protein powder, I went to booster juice and bought the one they use. but I bought it in raspberry flavour. So I have a scoop of that, 1/2 cup of orange juice and ice thrown in, mix it up in my magic bullet and there is 20g of protein.

So a PROPER daily menu for me would be:

Breakfast - Protein Shake
Snack - Cheese Stick
Lunch - Tuna Snack pack
Snack - Cottage cheese
Supper - Frozen meal I made
Snack - Apple or something.

I'm supposed to have protein every time I eat, but it doesn't always work that way.

Remember I gained weight too, don't worry - your body will adjust and then the pounds will just start falling off.

You are only 3 weeks out... keep remembering that!!!  There was no way I could get in all my protein/water/vitamins in at that point.  I also went through a 2 week stall when I started on solids again so the weight gain isn't anything to worry about either.  You aren't failing, you are doing very well.  Just remember this is a huge change and your body (and mind) take time to get used to it.

I'm still pre-op but I use "AnyWhey" protein powder. Its designed to be added into other foods so it has almost no flavour- bonus!

Its at GNC for $29.99 with a GNC member card, and its $34.99 without, but its a big tub and has 60 servings in it.

70 calories, 17g protein, 0g fat, 1g carb

If you blend it into a smoothie, mix it really well because it tend to clump.

Kim the first thing I want to say is your are not FAILING girl. Then next is I'm so sorry to hear you are struggling. I guess to an extent I am too but it's with getting both fluids and foods in.
I don't use any protein powders yet but I have bought the Beneprotein recommended by the clinic. i just think its a waste cause nothing i eat at this point can have the whole scoop added to it.
My diet consists of scrambled egg or 1egg omelet with ham and 1 oz of cheese, tuna salad, cod fish, I've had the can chicken breast from Wal-mart and I've been eating home made peas soup cause it has 22 grams of protein in 1/2 cup. Also cause I can add veggies to it and it makes it more attractive to eat. I'm a soup lover so it doesn't matter to me I can eat it everyday. Yesterday I had saute pork and about 3 noodles from this Vietnamese place in West Ed and it was a nice change. I haven't tried the ground beef or turkey but I may try it today with some Salsa or sauce on it. I've also had spaghetti squash and it was super yummy.

My protein intake should be 70-75 grams a day but only once I hit that since surgery most days I'm below 40. I see my NUT on the 25th so I'm gonna discuss it with her. When it comes to my vitamins I take them at night before bed, kinda like a bed time snack. I find that works easier for me. I have not really been tracking my calories cause I'm not eating enough. I fit's a can of Tuna and it's simple to know that 1/4 cup is 60 calories well then I know but I don't know the calorie count for 3 tsp of this or 1 oz of cod fish.

All I can say girl is keep your chin up and keep tracking, drinking fluids and be kind to yourself. I know you are doing everything right and we will both be successful. You and I both know that. Keep the faith, it'll all work out.
Kee.
