Food Stuck - help!
Ate some of a turkery burger last night at 7 pm, think I may have swallowed a piece that wasn't properly chewed. Lots of pressure and pain, excessive saliva followed by vomiting, but I can't bring anything up. Pain has passed, still have pressure and heaving, but all I can bring up is the liquids I've been taking to try and ease things through.
Any thoughts are very much appreciated....
I feel so sorry that you are feeling like that for such a long time, it must be hellish. Maybe if it continues to feel stuck you should go into Emergeny and get it checked. You don't want to risk doing any damage.
Good Luck and sorry I couldnt' be more helpful.
Kee.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't. Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened. My Surgery was September 21/2010
Cheers!

The latest is that Dawn is undergoing a second scope with Dr. Karmali this morning. In fact, she's down there now.
The consensus seems to be that she has bruised the esophagus with the stuck food and it will just take time and drugs to heal. However, they are doing the scope again as Dr. Birch wants a skilled bariatric surgeon, who knows what the GI tract is supposed to look like, to do the procedure and assess the results. There was some concern that there was a narrowing in the tract. Also, Birch was going to do a scope in hopes of diagnosing her unrelated chest issues, which is suggested to be a surgical ulcer. Hopefully, we can get some answers today.
From what Dr. Birch says Dawn may be the first VSG patient at the clinic to have a blockage issue as VSG patients are not supposed to block or dump. Not sure that's an entirely flattering accolade to have.
Anyway, Dawn is going stir crazy and wants to go home. We are hopeful that she can be discharged this afternoon. Crossing fingers.
Cheers!
