Liquid Diet H-E-Double Hockey Stix BLAH

Hi!
Just a little CRAZY because of my liquid diet! I am about half way through it though, so am giving myself my own little pat on the back.

I can have 5-6 High Protein Ensures per day. The labelling is kind of weird on the packages so I bought a few of the wrong kind. Be careful in reading the labels because the Wrong Kind actually makes you GAIN weight. ARG.

Anyway, I bought seriously a fridge full of chocolate flavour, but don't like it nearly as much as the strawberry and vanilla.

I have also concocted these weird little Liquid Diet Survival techniques/ recipes:
I mix a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg with the Vanilla one and run it through the blender with ice, it tastes like an iced chai. I add sf mint flavour to the chocolate ones when I am bored of it. I put a few in the freezer, so my "Dinner" Ensure I can eat with a little spoon. I have a little insulated lunch bag and I have a few containers with ice to keep them cold. Otherwise, lukewarm Ensures are AWFUL.
I have a countdown chart on my fridge to keep me sane (??) and I am trying to keep veeerrry busy with all non-food related activities. My friends are killing themselves laughing because I decided to learn how to knit.

I have a really busy job and these things run right through you, so BEWARE, if you know what I mean. I feel very tired with low engery, mildly crabby at all meal times and during food commercials, work BBQs, birthday cake parties, catered work meetings etc. etc. etc. HA HA.

My darling liver better LOVE ME ;)
Can't wait for the flip side when I apparently will not have much appetite... can it be TRUE??
Surgery VSG Oct.8 2010. 23pds lost pre-op. I am 5'6" tall. Feeling amazing!

LOL, I am no where near as far as the liquid diet in my process, but just thought I would let you know that I LOVE your rant!!!  Sounds like you have a good sense of humour and that should keep you going.

Thanks for sharing and all the best on your journey.  :)

awesome tips for us (when we get there)

And I swear i wanted to rip a bag of peanuts out of my husbands hands the other night and beat him with it.  I'm in a weight stall and it sounded crunchy, munchy and good...and it made me crabby.

All is well, I did not beat him with the peanuts, nor did I eat anything naughty.

You'll get through and your liver will love the heck outta ya!

PS.  I too am keeping busy with things that won't accommodate snacking.  (cardmaking, scrapbooking, hula hooping...and I've been giving the sewing machine the 'side eyes'...) Hmm..

take care and hang in there!

Thanks for the tips Nancy.
I'm a week out of my surgery today and decided yesterday to try my Ensure and I couldn't even swallow the second slip. But now that you talk of freezing it I think I will have to try that. I have been craving ice and love the sound of it breaking between my teeth, I know it sounds a little weird but it gets me through the day.
It's good that you are learning how to knit cause with all this weight lost that's gonna be happening with the board members I think we'll all be looking for some woolen sock from you. Like I said only a week out and I've been froze to death since surgery. I'll have mine in pink please (lol).
On a serious note girl, I think you're doing wonderful and before you know it you day will be here and trust me it's all worth it. I would do it all over again and I have no regrets. I think once or twice in the hospital I said to Kim "oh **** what have I done to myself" cause of the great pain I had but now that I'm home and more comfortable it's a different story. I'm looking forward to the rest of my life.
I also hope you can find a surgery buddy, it makes the experience a more pleasant one to go through cause someone else can relate. I am so glad that Kim and I went through it together.
Good Luck.

Kee.
