Hey guys,

It's been a long day but I'm finally home and actually feeling a little anxious about being so far away from Edmonton.

I had a rough few days and still waiting on a few test results but they felt like I was ok enough today to let me out. The internist that visited every morning called me his little trouble maker, he wasn't impressed that the best drugs were the ones that I was allergic too.

Thanks so much to Kim for being an awesome surgery buddy, I would have never made it with out her. Also hats off to Sarah and Chance for visiting me. Not having family there was kinda hard but having common goals with these girls made it bearable.

Anyway I'll post again later when my energy level is above the falling asleep sitting up stage.

Kee.

You can either believe it will happen.....or believe it won't.  Both are self fulfilled prophesies. For Me it has happened.  My Surgery was September 21/2010

Glad to hear you are home but I'm sorry I couldn't visit longer on Friday morning. I wanted out of there so bad and you were feeling so ill that I wanted to to just rest.
Having a buddy there was certainly my highlight!! Glad it was you and I hope when we meet again we're near normal and feeling SUPER!!!

I'm having a very emotional day and nothing seems to be going down the tubes right. I am on day 3 of diarrhea and i'm thinking it's dairy induced as much as its surgery induced.
I'm having lots of reflux/heartburn and it SUCKS!! I'm in no pain through and my incisons are all nice and dry. Tapes are even falling off a few.

Hang tight girl--- the worst is really over!! We made it through the scary parts didn't we?!

Big gentle hugs to you!

Hey Michelle,

I so thought that we would be surgery buddies too but I got that call and a week later I was on the table.
Things are still a little fussy as to what happened but I do know that I came of of surgery on Tuesday evening and everything was fine. I went back to my room was in some pain and then later that night something changed. My blood pressure shot up high and so did my heart rate and temperature they wouldn't come back down, they were all in the danger zone. They gave me more morphine and a sedative to try to settle things but they were a few touch and go moments where the surgeon was back in and a surgical team was on stand by cause they thought that they would have to rush me back into the o.r. They checked my hemoglobin thinking i had a bleed or a leak but that came back ok. Luckily that didn't happened an by morning my vital signs had returned to just about normal. They are thinking that my liver may have gotten a little inflamed from being retracted for the 2 hour surgery. I did the leak test on Wednesday afternoon and everything was fine with it and other than having alot of pain and being nauseous things settled down. They do believe the morphine was causing all the dry heaving and the anti-nausea drug of choice I was allergic to so they supplemented with gravol and Zofran. They ran more test before I came home so I will know more when I see Dr Birch on October 4th.

Keelan - I'm so happy you are home and feeling better. I personally think Dr. Birch is great. He really seems to care about his patients..after my second surgery, I think I saw him daily.

Zofran became my best friend - I got Dr. Birch to give me a prescription for when I went home too, but wow that stuff is expensive!!
