Hi

I'm Wendy and I too am morbidly obese and I thought how could I be because the lady sitting next to me in this program that we attend every 2 weeks said to me that she was morbidly obese as well. She was 389lbs, so I guess anyone over 300 lbs is considered morbid?

So I'm concerned how do they consider someone morbid and is it based on their BMI or weight?

Another thing I have seen here on these forums that some of you have had the surgery or are waiting for the surgery. How are you paying for this? Are you a part of the 2010-2011 Weight management Group in Calgary I'm involved in, you must be too, unless you have the money to pay for this, because I was told insurance companies will not pay.

I know this weight management group I'm in, there are 700 people vying for 25 spots for the lap-band surgery, and another 550 on a waiting list. I know they want to see people lose the  weight and perhaps may not need the lap-band surgery if they are successful in doing so.

When they explained to me the horrors of this lap band and what you have to follow, I wondered if it were really worth that effort to get it. Of course since I was 12 yrs old, gaining weight and I have tried many diets, different kinds of weightloss pills, been on the yo-yo diet, ring a bell? Where does one go when they truly need the help?

Modification Weightloss Therapy is what we all need, because if the Alberta Health care system is overwhelmed with us people who are overweight or morbidly then I would question 25 lap-band surgeries and 1250 people wanting the lap-band as opposed to losing it on their own.

If Alberta is so worried that we are burdening the system, I beg to differ. The only concern will be that 80% won't lose the weight, 80% will fail and the other 20% will be flawless in their victory. So when I mention Modification, the Alberta Health care system is failing with a C in their grade.

How is it people got fat in the first place, how do you know they are going to keep it off for good?

When I last saw my Doctor we did an agreement where I would lose 40lbs from last year to this present date. She weighed me in at 328lbs, well of course I to failed, so now I am 311 pounds. We started a realistic goal that would see me between now and next year 25 lbs lighter or more.

I'm optimistic that I will lose the weight, but will it be enough to see me through this?

They have us weighing our food, you can pick breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.

So I chose lunch because I tend to eat more at that hour.

I'm eating healthier and how I lost 17 pounds was I gave up salt.

My brother in law is doing LA Weight loss, of course paying $3000 to do that, heck when I took the platinum of Jenny Craig, it cost me $800, and their food was $91 a week. So that means I can still do Jenny Craig because it's permanent with them, but to pay for the food it's too costly.

I'm looking for people who would like to meet, whether you are a gentleman or a lady who is interested in walking.

So that means if you live in the quadrant of SW/SE of Calgary, and would like to meet me for this energetic walk, this means that you are not fast in your pace, you like to walk at your leisure then we should meet.

When I say leisure it's because I can walk, just not fast in my pace.

I too have knee problems and with meeting new friends, we can work up to that pace.

What do you think, let me know . . .Thanks!
