I'm still around!

Hi all!

I am still around - just wanted to fill you all in.  So I had my surgery on July 13!!!  I went home, and proceeded to get sick.  And sick, and sicker...So finally I was taken to Northeast health - stupid move! I should of gone to the Alex, but I was so out of it, I didn't push the issue.

Northeast was absolutely no help whatever!!! NONE!  So first thing that monday morning, July 19, we called the Clinic and I was rushed in.  Turns out my bowel decided to stop working after my surgery.

Ended up having emergency bowel surgery on the 19th, and I JUST got out of the hospital on Friday, July 30th.  I am so, so happy to be out!!  Dr. Birch is keeping an extremely close eye on me right now though.  He is on holidays this week, but I have to go in to see one of the other surgeons on Tuesday for them to look at everything since I had the lap surgery first but with my bowels they had to cut me from breast bone to belly button and now I have a wound infection....plus a g-tube for my bowels that they can't take out quite yet.

So home care is coming twice a day to change my dressings, but i don't care because I am out of the hospital!!!!  It is much easier to try and adjust to new foods and everything here.  At the hospital, it was so hard because I absolutely HATED the food they gave me.

But I'M OUT!!!!

How are you all doing?

OMG!!!!!! I wondered where you were but never imagined you'd be back in the hospital .
I'm so sorry you developed a complication but you were in the best hands at the RAH ( forget the detour to Northwest) .
I hope your road to recovery & continued weightless are a much smoother & pleasant experience!
I'm thinking about you and praying for a speedy recovery!!
Thank you so much for the update but please rest

If you don't mind telling, what kind of issues are you dealing with?

But on the plus side, I lost 17lbs in two weeks from my second surgery to Tuesday, August 3.

Hey Kim!

I am getting better and better!  I feel like I'm in the clinic weekly now...oh wait it has been weekly.  I still have the 2 open wounds from the bowel surgery, and my lap site opened where they put through the stapler, and my g-tube site is healing as well but honestly, all things considered I am doing pretty good.

The wounds are healing - and healing fast than Dr. Birch thought they would.  He officially gave my permission to drive on Monday - and that has been such a blessing.  I am so happy not having to rely on others to get around.  I am off work for the rest of this week and then I go back on Monday, but I think I'm ready then.

Home care is still coming and looking and changing the dressings for my wounds twice a day but I will say it again - it beats being in the hospital.  And even with the complications I have had, I konw I made the right decision for the RNY.

I bet you are getting excited eh?

Thanks for checking up on me!
