I have had 2 scopes and can tell you that it does not hurt.  You are put under so you will not remember it at all.  Once they are done, they let you sleep the drugs off.  You will need a ride home, because they wont let you drive being under the influence of the drugs.  They say that you might have a sore throat after, but I was fine.

Hope that helps.

I just had a scope on Thursday.  The only thing that hurts a little is putting in the IV.  They don't do any scope stuff  until you are asleep.  I even woke up for a few seconds during the procedure and it still did not hurt.  I always get really nauseated after sedation and puke but everyone is different.  I also had another procedure done at the same time and I was fine!  You will do great!  Just remember to take lots of really deep breaths once you wake up to get all the anesthesia out of your lungs.

Good Luck

Katrina

PS Depending on how far they want to scope they may fill you full of air...it does not hurt but it will make you very very very gassy so get a ride home from someone you are not embarrassed to toot in front of.  LOL

Depends on why you are getting one.  My Mother has had 2 scopes done and both times she was not put to sleep and remembered everthing.  She said it was painful but then she was getting her stomic valve stretched because she had bad acid reflux.

She was fine by the time she got home and you def need to get a ride.

Good luck!
