Just thought that I would update and let ya all know that today I met with Dr.C. Menezes (was suppose to be Dr. Karmali) and I'M APPROVED for gastric sleeve..... I'm super excited, so much so that I'm doing the Happy Dance

1st goal acheived December 27th/2010. 1 week after my 3rd month surgery anniversary.
2nd goal acheived June 4th/2011. 2 weeks after my 8th Month Surgiversary.

Menzes is an intern on the surgical team. He can approve you for surgery, but he does not perform it. He wasn't even in the OR when I was there, unless he came when I was out. Dr. Birch performed my surgery (or I think he did...I was out before he got into the OR but I saw him as I was being wheeled in...) But really they are all great:) As far as I know your surgeon is the one who does the surgery even if you never actually meet them.

Dr Carlos (Menezes) was awesome this moring. He took him time and explained every procedure to me even though I had my mind made up already. He question my knowledge on the procedures and asked why i didn't consider the by pass and then told me I would need by pass anyway. He was really surprised that I went in so well educated on the surgeries and why I choose the sleeve. In the end he said it was my choice but agreed with me that the sleeve was the right choice.
As far as I know Dr. karmali will still be doing my surgery.
