Help! I live in Calgary.....
I just wanted to second what everyone else has already told you- the weight wise program is the way to go!
It is amazing how thorough they are! I have been diagnosed with adult ADD as a result of the program and am beginning to really understand the whys and why-nots of my obesity. A program that is only surgery would not be as successful for me.

Hi Krista-
I sometimes think that part of this process is to test us on our commitment and determination. Keep on the doctor- referrals have been known to get "lost in the shuffle". That's what first happened to mine. When the doctor's office called them at the WW clinic, they had no record of me on their list. So keep trying- which surgeons do WLS in Calgary anyway?

Hi, I waited over four years for Calgary to do my surgery and went to all the classes etc but I never did get it there , they just kept putting me off and I finally went to the weight wise clinic in Edmonton . I had my lap band in Nov of 2008and am down about 68lbs. Bands are slower but they do work. I would look into the Edmonton clinic or if you can oafford to pay out of country , the clinic at Banner Gateway hospital in Gilbert, Arizona is terrific.

Each to there own, if you have been on a list for 2 years now, how much longer are you going to wait, I think the reason a person gets bumped down the list is because there is ALWAYS someone worse off than you, i have heard of people being on lists for over 4 years, in that time you could have saved enough cash to get the surgery out of country. I talked to alot of people and did alot of research and being just FAT in Alberta is not enough to get surgery so I decided to get it done out of country and it was the best decision i have ever made for ME in my whole life, if it means taking out a loan and paying it off over the course of a couple years so be it, it will at least be a couple years in a better body, I dont know you but I do know I did not want to be in the body i had for 2 more years and the interest is worth every penny of it. Just my opinion. Sometimes you have to take control of your own life and not let other people dictate it for you.
Good luck, if you have any questions PM me

Well, my number finally came up here in Calgary. They are offering 25 surgeries and I am going to be one of them! It has been a long haul .. 3 years on a wait list, 4 1/2 months of classes through the Weight Management program here in calgary but I hope the wait will be worth it.
I am quite excited and feel very thankful to have been picked but I am also quite scared. I have been losing on my own (down 52 pounds since last fall) but I have a long way to go! If anyone has any advice or comments that they think would be helpful .... I am open!
I have one question about the optifast .... I've been told i will need 2 -3 weeks of optifast. That seems like an eternity. Any comments on that? How is the optifast? Please tell me it's wonderful ...ha ha
Appreciate any input.
Thanks so much!
