Phone Follow-up

Hi Everyone

I have a phone follow-up with Corey on Wednesday and I am curious what should I expect?

I had my blood work done and I have been food journalling, and counting my steps.

Will he ask me my current weight on my home scale?

Anything, I should be prepared for... this is all new to me.

Hey Chance,

Jina is my nurse and when she does a phone follow up she just generally wants to know how you are doing and if you are following the guild lines that they have set up with you. She did ask me if I had home scales and what my weight was on them. She also asked about journeling and if i was wearing my pedometer. They will want to know if you had the blood work done and he may even bring it up on the computer to see if it's back and discuss it a little. Then it's any question that you may have and it's done. Normally mine run anywhere from 10-15 minutes.

It's probably the most simple appointment you'll ever have. Not as stressfull when its not face to face.

Good Luck.

Kee.

Thanks for the info, Kee!  I appreciate it.

What sort of guidelines have you gotten? I've only met with Corey so far and he told me to keep doing what I'm doing and to book my bone scan, sleep study and that was it.

I feel  a little lost really... like I should have had more instruction. I wasn't even told how many calories I should be eating so I am a little worried that I will gain and get tossed out of the program.

I don't see a nut until next month, but I see the psych on Thursday and should get an offical diagnosis of ADD.

Once you see the Nut she will give you a guild line for the calorie part but right now you can track your calories on your own to get an estimate of exactly how many you are taking in over the day and week. It takes a decrease of 500-1000 calories a day to loose weight so you can monitor yourself and decrease a little on your own. Lets just say you monitor this week coming up and you are around  2000 calories a day well then by the end of the week you can try decreasing it to 1800 and then the lower it again the next week too 1700. If you do it all at once your body will not like you. I don't count calories just because I'm so use to Weigh****chers and their point system, for me it's an easier way.

My suitation is a little different cause I have an extremely low metaboltic rate, Right now it's at 1400 calories a day so if I have to cut 500-1000 a day I would be literally starving my body so with that said my Nut just wants me to maintaine until I see the surgeon.

I had my nurse Jina book my sleep study with Dr Sabestian, he's down on Jasper ave and there wasn't any charge to get the study done. I just seen him that day, took it home that night and dropped it off the next morning. For my Bone scan I booked it at the HYS centre which is near the Royal Alex, actually walking distance of a block or 2, and had it done the same day as my appointment. Just because I'm out of town and have to drive a little over 2 hours I find it more convenient to do it all one day.

My psych was Karla, who is now going on Mat leave, but anyway she was awesome and talked alot about why I thought I was the way I am and how I got to this point. We covered emotional eating and she gave me hamdouts to look at at home and fill them out and then we discussed them at home. I didn't have the  ADD or ADHD.

My  guidelines were to Journel, wear the pedometer, give up pop and any other form of liquid calories, cut eating out to once a week, track my emotional or bordem eating, and them try to find another way to deal with them. Now that I'm close to seeing the surgeon they have added not to drink any liquid within a 1/2 hour of eating any meal and to wait 1/2 hour after meals and to maintain my weight.

Sorry it's such a long winded reply. Feel free to ask me anything, I don't mine sharing my experience.

Hi Chance
My follow up with Corey was just going over the blood work and to let me know any concerns with it and asked how I was doing with everything.  As mentioned previously it wasn't until  I saw the nut I got more info on the diet part of it.  What time is you psych appointment on Thursday I have one and also one with the nut.  I am there from 11am.
Don't worry about so far I haven't been made to feel bad about anything.
I keep my food journal on the website you told me about   www.myfitnesspal.com and find this very easy and it to gives a calorie intake recommendation.  Although it is a little on the high side but you could use it as a guide line until you see you nut.
