So does anyone know the average time after surgery that I can't drive for?  I know everyone is different but there is a set standard isn't there?

Adrianna,

Really it depends on the person and the amount of mobility you have for shoulder checking. The only thing I have been told by any physician after surgery is to wait a minium of 48 hours so that the anesthetic is out of your system. Other than that it depends on what meds you are using for pain management. Some cause more drowiness than others.

I'd say just listen to your body and follow your gut instinct.

I was about 2 and a half weeks. I had RNY but I the only issue I had was shoulder checking. and getting in and out. LOL so it totally depends on your recovery time. I still find some days tough to drive..
