Initial Assessment Update
I had my appointment this morning and it went really well. I met with my new bff Cory and did all the fun stuff.
Good News... I am not depressed! I likely have ADHD and am going to see the shrink to get confirmed in May.
I am also scheduled for the internist, dietitian, OT group, and 2 more appts with Cory. Plus, the sleep study and bone density scan.
Its exciting! I have to have blood work done on Friday before I head out to work.
I'm a busy lady! Is it always this quick?
Also, do I see the psychiatrist at the clinic? I wasnt given a different address for him.
The inital assessment into the clinic was the same for me. I scheduled all these following appts with a dietitian, met Dr. Sharma, met with my psychologist, Lisa ( who is at the clinic and I really enjoyed thoses chats) Did the body scan, sleep study and pile of bloodwork and then you just follow the guidelines set out for you and report back to the clinic on your next appt. It's simple and routine and you'll love going!!
I filled out a depression and ADHD survery during my first appt with my psychologist.
Dietitian went over my calorie intake and set some guideline/goals for me to follwo until the next visit and we'd review how I was making out.
OT class wasn't relevant to myself but for many it is very imparitive that they attend and find out how to make their lives manageable. Ie- cleaning themselves, pulling socks on with ease, handles for the shower or bath etc.
You might feel overwhelmed with all these appts back to back to back but it's just the beginning. It will get slower and spaced out. You are also weigh every single time you go to the clinic. I prefer to wear light clothing during weigh in--- LOL
WELCOME to Weight Wise!!! It's offical now!! :D
Hugs
Now you just to need the new job and your life will be right on track.
Good luck.
The first few visits are jam packed with info and things that you need to get done. I'm still getting blood work done on a regular basic and have been since the begining of my program last July. I however have a very low vitamin D.
Your next set of appts will be harder than today especially cause you will meet with Dr. Sharma who is head over the clinic and he will ask a lot of personal questions and then dictate it into his recorder in front of you, trust me it's harder to hear it then tell it. I almost cryed and thought **** he's talking about me.
I didn't have to see the psychiastrist, but he is in the clinic and I do know that its a one shot deal. he will see you once and if need be he will refer you to a out patient psychiatrist.
I had my bone density scheduled for the same day as my other appts and I got it done at the HYS centre which is in walking distance of the Royal Alex, It's a hugh brown brick buliding and it says HYS on it. i can't remember the street but its close.
I'm not sure if anyone else does this or not but I never us the Royal Alex parking just because its expensive and you never kow how long you're gonna be. I always park at McDonalds or at the Kingways mall. You can also park across the street on 106 st in front of the house. Sounds kinda cheap but hey I already have to take the day off work and drive over 2 hours so it saves me a bit of money.
Anyway Girl the roller coaster ride begins, you are in for the ride of your life and trust me you'll be smiling from here on out.
