Gallbladder question

Has anyone had their gallbladder remover? and if so, what do you do to combat the digestion issuses?

I had my gallbladder removed in January and since then have been having trouble with a bunch of different foods and their digestion. Wondering if anyone knows of any tricks to help soothe this process. For me, I wake up in the wee hrs of the morning and  spend up to 3hrs in the bathroom . It's terribly uncomfortable and just when I feel like I'm ready for sleep, another wave comes on. Sometimes I've even vomited. It's driving me bonkers!!!!

Doctor said it'll take time for the body to adjust but I'm not eating fatty foods-- this can be anything and nothing seems to help the discomfort. Was more intense in the first month and then settled down but every couple weeks I'll have an episode. Today was one of them .

Thanks

My sister and ex boyfriend have both had their gall bladders removed and they both have issues with their digestion and bowels ever since. They tend to get diarrhea alot and it last forever. They have both told me at times it actually feels like they are having a gallbladder attack but they both know it can't be.
My sister actually had to see the surgeon that did the surgery and have a colonoscopy done because her diarrhea issues. He gave her a perscription that is suppose to help bind the fat in your diet so that you'll poop it out more solid. I can't remember the actually name at this time I just know it starts with a G. He also said to her that she should eat a low fat diet, which she does anyway. Someday she can eat a certain thing and it doesn't bother her and then the next week it will.

Good Luck Girl.

I had my gullbladder taken in March of 2008.. I find that most Greasy foods dont agree, spicy and if i eat fast that really creates issues.. I havent experience the vomiting.  Some acid foods do the same thing.. Its really trial and error..   I have RNY and I have eaten.. Turkey ground, with Vegs, and Tuna Vegs and Cheese and it sat allright. Just not hungry..  My heart goes out to all of you that have had your gallbladders removed.  I too had mine taken the old way and have the war wound to prove it...*smiles*  Since the gallbladder is designed to store and concentrate bile, without it we are really hooped in terms of digestion.  Dont despair as thier are things you can do to help however we will be forever disabled now.  I feel that it is unfortunate the the contemporary medical community as a whole do not yet understand just how serious removing the gall bladder is.
In any case, it is what it is and we must deal with it.  Listen, I dont blame anyone for chosing to do it as I remember very clearly when I had my surgery that I was only way too happy to have it done and over with.
Here is what I do and it works very well.  I take Turmeric 2x day.  This aids in the flow of the bile.  I also take a digestive enzyme with each meal that contains Liapase.  This is the enzyme that aids in fat digestion.  Every now and then I supplement with acidophalous.....especially if you have had  a run with diarreha (sp?).

You see, all food dies an acid bath in the stomach with a ph of about 1.8 - 2 or so.  This is to kill all the bacteria that are present.  Then as the food enters the duodemon, it signals the liver to tell the gallbladder (which we dont have) to squirt out the alkaline bile.  This creates a sizzle such that we would see with baking soda and vinegar.  This releases the nutrients.  Without the secretion of the concentrated alkaline bile, there is no sizzle and inefficient release of nutrients.  Now...this is coming through the small intestine and considered 'hot' as it has not been quenched by the alkaline bile.  The body says....'holy hanna, we have to get this hot potato out of here so it does not burn a hole in the intestines'.  This causes the body to then rush all the stores of water down through the intestine and through the bowel.  You know what is happening then.  Consequently, it also destroys much of the good bacteria in the intestine as well.  That is why the acidophalous supplementation.

Hope this helps.
God Bless.
