Well I guess for me. As I know most will say everyone is different.. He met with me ( i was told dont panic if he says no for the first visit ).
. Well he didnt.. then he said.. he wont let me go into a holding patern.. so that said .. I was approved feb 22 ( only one visit with him )..... got my date the beginnning of march.. surgery april 6.. I did call the nurse and ask questions.. and she did get me the date..
Every pre op is diffiernt. you are required to contiune to drop weight.. he could cancel if you gain.
classes are both for information and any other questions you may have.. pre[ one goes on about what to expect, what mulit viats to buy , after care, mental health support issues at home. . u get to see a RN RD and a phyc.. watch a quick video..
maintaining the change is about what they want you do do affter.. how you will contiune . ect.. any questions you have from the previous class...
I did ld for 17 days.. it was tough at theend. but not everyone will do that depends on weight , diet ect..
pre admin was basically ECG, Blood taken, Meeting with the anastistis. ( gas person ).. sorry cant spell.. going over history, watching a video of the day you will arrive.. as for pre admin.. its also varies.. I didnt do the pre test, just had work done in the past 2 mths. they didnt see a reason.. didnt do a throat test ,,
the best person to ask would be your nurse.. they have a better idea..
Hope this helps..
congrates

Congrats Kim...I know how you feel...that was the BEST appointment I ever had when I saw Dr Birch...although it comes close to my very first visit at the WW clinic.
Anyways,,,,I only had one visit with him too...it is rare that he doesn't offer surgery right away (that is why we go through so many appts with our NUT's, nurses etc)...the "team" wouldn't refer you to the surgeons if they didn't feel we were ready.
He will offer you one of three surgeries....he drew pictures of them for me...asked me which one I wanted....and offered his advise. I chose RNY from the beginning....he said to me it was an excellent choice.
I saw him in March...got my date in April and was operated on in May....time went fast.
I followed a two-week liquid diet, had my preop at the RAH about a week prior to my surgery...got the call after 4pm the night before surgery (to let me know what time to arrive at hospital)...the rest is a blurrrrrrrr.
Good luck...be happy...your journey will take you in a different path...but I learnt...all the paths we take to our health are awesome...enjoy the ride missy...and hang on!
Hugs

Thank you all so much for the congrats and insight on what to expect in th next coming months.
I wasn't expecting my dietitian to say she was ready for me to advance to the surgeon yet ( as I have only seen her once in a 6month period of time) but she surprised me and I'm really happy.
May 3rd is only 19 days away....and a new countdown begins!!!
