I have been attending our Weight Wise Clinic for a year and a half...it's a combination of Drs, surgeons, nurses, psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physio Therapists and other staff that specifically are trained in bariatrics.

Anyways, I had my final appointment last Monday...clean bill of health...lab work is awesome...weight loss is awesome and now a referral for my tummy tuck...all included in my Alberta Health Care plan (as was the surgery).

I am sooo happy...and proud!

The tummy tuck with Dr Davey could be awhile...but I am ok with that! It will give me time to stabilize my weight more...I just want to be on the waiting list. I know it is long.

Ps  If I need the clinic the door is always open...so that is comforting...hopefully I won't ever need them again.

It has amost been a year for me as well....I had RNY sugery with Dr. Davey May 12 of last year.  I saw him last month and he is booking me for my tummy tuck....and yes he told me it will be at least a 7 month ++ wait.  That is ok by me...I have a bit more weight to lose and I can also stabilize my loss.  I am experienceing a plateau right now...but at least I feel great.  What a difference form this time last year.

I see Dr. Davey in Bonnyville and he is a fantastic Dr.  I owe alot to him.  He is always compassionate and caring each time I see him.

Congrats to you...he will do my surgery in Bonnyville.

Take Care

Congratulations Brenda, thats great new.

I do have to ask though about this tummy tuck cause i was told at the clinic that they don't do tummy tucks.
I was told that they will do a pansetomy which is just the removal of the loose skin in the bottom tummy area, sometimes called an skin apron.
I have had friends go to cosmetic surgeons and have tummy tucks and they also re-sew the loosen muscles back together to give you a more defined look.
Anyway if you can give me some info I'd love to hear it.

Congrats again.

Keelan.

Hello Keelan

From what I understand, Dr Davey re-sews the loosen muscles also, and removes the extra skin/fat that is remaining. (at least that was what I was told)...plus...getting your tuck done by a plastic surgeon,,,,AHC will not cover it.

I have seen Dr Davey's work...it's great and I just want the loose fat/skin removed.

Thanks for the info Brenda. I will be looking foward to hearing more about this from you.  I'm just so glad that AHC covers it. It will be definitely worth the wait.

For me...it's not a matter of looking "pretty" down there...it's the taking off of loose skin/fat that remains when you are close to your losing.

It's so hard to buy pants....I am a 15/16 on top and a 10/12 around the thighs....arrrrgh!

So hopefully taking the excess away will get me into the proper size pants I need.

Besides, wearing bikinis for me are long gone...a nice one peice strapless number is what I am aiming for.

Even though I am only in my mid 30 I have serious doubts if I will ever look pretty down there either and really it's not about that.
I have been dieting for over 1/2 my life and I have so much sagging skin there now that I can't imagine it will ever go back to where it should be.
Even though I have about 80-100 pounds to loose I would honestly be happy with just the removal of that skin.
It is my biggest self esteem problem. I am current and 16-18 pants and i think if i could just get rid of this rubbery tire I would be about a 12-14, there is seriouly that much of it there.
I have decided that I am going ot do a before and after photo's so I don't forget how far I've come.

Thanks Breanda for sharing such personal things. Knowing that there are people support you that you havn't even met is such a great feeling. Maybe someday we'll all have the chance to meet and share our stories in person.
