well I did it, very happy to have done it as well but I am wondering if anyone else had surgery from Dr. Davey?   It was excellent and so far I have lost 14.5 lbs (5 days) but I was told I would be in the hospital for two nights and the second day a nurse told me I had to leave they needed my bed. wow!  sucked. She told me to sign the form and I told her I had not seen the NUT but she just said well eat this this and this.  I signed the form and had to call someone to come get me. I live 4 hours from the hospital so I was kinda stressed.  Anyway, just wanted to find out if any one out there had the same type of stuff happen and if it is normal.

I had RNY surgery with Dr. Davey May 12 last year.  I love him, he is fabulous.  I had experienced not a great time in the hospital, but that is because I developed an infection and didn't really realize till almost 2 weeks when I just wasn't starting to feel at all well.

I live in Cold Lake and really there is no support here.  I bought a Bariatric Surgery cookbook, but really, you will know what you can and cannot eat.  Take your supplements if you are required to and listen to your body.

Any questions, just ask !!

Good Luck....

I like living here, the only thing with this kind of surgery, being closer to Edmonton would help alot.  I battled with an infection in my main port site for weeks, and unfortunately the medical staff at the hospital here didn't confer with Dr. Davey about the infection..anyway I am doing great.

I was thinking about starting a support group here in Cold Lake, just so ones like us can get together and talk about our experiences etc,., and what each can and cannot eat and recipes.

Hope you are feeling better each day!!

Keep in Touch

thank you.    I am excited, at first I was embarrassed about saying I had the surgery but then thought, screw em.  So I needed help, it happens. :o)  Its hard being military and knowing you are looked at different because of your size.

good for you I feel the same way.  I have not had surgery yet but at the mention of it is amazing peoples reactions.  I figure this is my life and finally I have a way to help with the weight issue that has bugged me all my life.

funny how you just get to a spot where enough is enough. I am just sad it took me this long but I was able to do my whole job this whole time so I didn't think I would qualify. dumb bunny!!!! lol
