What do i take with me?

Having  VSG surgery at RAH on April 19, Just wondering what i should take with me, i had heard to bring gas-x strips, ear plugs, any suggestions or tips would be helpful. Also on a 19 day Ensure liquid diet. Bought Ensure but got home and realized i had bought the High Protein and the Plus, the plus has a 100cal more then the high protein. will it still be alright to take?

I hear some take a heating pad and antiseptic to put on incisions after a shower.

Congratulations on getting the surgery.  the ear plugs and an eye cover are probably good things to take, night shift in the hospital is not quiet.  I am not sure about the ensure as with the extra calories it may defeat the purpose.  Can you not take it back and exchange it if it is not opened.  Does the plus have the same protein as the high protein?
Also take some slippers and a housecoat to the hospital.  The floors are disgusting in any hospital full of bugs.

Take your toothbrush, paste etc. shampoo, hair brush.  You really don't need anything there because they give you alot.  Slippers are a must.  I had an excellent roommate and didn't need ear plugs.  good luck!  who is your surgeon?

Thanks. Exchanged all the Ensure Plus for High Protein. Been 6 days on liquids, down 9lbs. 13 more days to go. Been doing pretty good though, Not feeling all that hungry, the ensure seem to keep my full, have a hard time getting through all 6 of them in a day. Usually get 3-5 down, depending how busy i am. I've been having 2 cups of chicken broth (powered stuff mixed with water) at supper time with the ensure, so it feels/tastes like im having some sort of hot supper flavoured type thing. Will definatly have to remember the slippers!! Thanks for the tips. Any idea on average how long your in the hospital for after surgery? 

The stay in hospital is about two and a half to three days(I went in on Wensday morning and was discharged on Friday afternoon). Good luck and a speedy recovery.
