Tips to break a plateau

Anyone have tips for a plateau?  I have been the same weight within 10lbs since Christmas.  I know I need to increase my activity, but even when I have done that I don't get results or I get a gain.  Suggestions???

Plateaus are when calories taken in to the body and energy burned are evening out.
It's really frustrating and can last for months. it's like the body stopped working on us.

Have you called your dietitian? When is your next appt at the clinic?
Most likely you'll need your calorie count modified and of course are going to have to work at the activity more. Even a little a day helps. No snacking too. :P

I know in my case- I'm still eating 1400-1500 calories/day  after 7 months and losing much smaller increments of weight . I know that I can have my calories modified lower at this point but until I do it the proper way and talk to my dietitian, I'll just continue on with increased exercise and lost of water.

Try not to get frustrated and know you are doing fantastic!!

Well I see my dietician again in May.  I am supposed to have surgery between now and the end of May.  I am working my way towards that.  I'm just afraid that if I don't lose before my next appointment they will push me back.  I am going to up my activity to start with as you suggested.  When I get that back under control I will look at decreasing my calories on my own.  Are you a part of weight wise?  I just wondered if that help line might be able to give me some feedback

Thanks for responding

Yes I've been in Weight Wise since August  and hoping to get the gastric sleeve by the summers end.
Definitely call them with any questions / concerns that you may have. We have them to use whenever we need.
Just know you're never alone and keep journaling etc. It gets tough sometime ( ie- Easter this weekend) but we just have to push throughthe temptation and for your sake, know that surgery is within a month or so.....almost there.

Hey Relene--Anytime I hit a plateau I usually know what to do...deep down. So search within first.

one thing that always works is I reassess and usually lower my carbs a bit....

The gain you get from exercise is temporary and helps you burn long term....so don't use that as a barrier. Working out has other benefits besides losing weight, just keep going and don't give up, because anytime you give up you will be back to were you started...or worse.

Set your goal small...try 1/2 a pound to a pound a week...just try.

Thank you.  I am following weigh****hcers on my own, so I decided to lower my points by one and be very diligent about counting and writing it down.  The plateau is my own fault.  I did go digging deep down and I know this is true.  It's been a struggle since I found out that I can have the surgery...almost like I'm afraid of what I will not be able to eat when I have it so I am eating everything now!  I know in my head I have to stop that, and so I just have to be more aware and conciuos of things
