Has anyone had the RNY Gastric Bypass done in Mexico?  The price isn't bad and no waiting, but who knows what you're getting into unless you have other people tell you about their experiences.

If you have been to Mexico for this surgery, or other weight loss surgery, please tell me where you went, and how the whole experience was, good/bad, would you recommend to others, etc.

Thanks very much in advance,
Jane

Hi Jane, I went to Tijuana Mexico for the VSG surgery.  I, like  you, was unsure about my experience.  I have to say that my experience was awsome.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  The stigma that many have about mexico is so untrue.  My surgeon was Dr. Aceves.  He has a wonderful team of peope who want to ensure that your experience is a good one.  The difference in our health care in ALberta and there...no comparision.  I felt like I was treated like a person not a number.  The hospital was very clean.  I met the team before my surgery and my contact with Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos was daily two to three times a day they stopped into my room to see how I was doing.
If you want more information please feel free to send me a message.

Take care and best of luck

my first question would be....does your surgery cost also cover the cost of any surgery or medical expenses resulting in complications from your surgery?
i only ask this because i just had gastric bypass surgery here in edmonton and within 40 hrs i was having emergency exploritory surgery where they found out that i had a twisted bowel (a rare but potentally fatal complication if not caught in time)
if it does not and you choose to go to mexico make sure that you purchase extra insurance becaues you never know what could/can go on with surgery.
just my 2 cents

Hey Jane

I went to Mexicali and had a VSG done by DR.Aceves ( I did not know he also worked out of tijuana) anyway, the experience was fantastic, we here is Alberta could take some lessons, everything is done in a hospital from pre-op to recovery so if there are any complications you are not in some clinic somewhere, I would recomend it in a heartbeat and Dr Aceves prefers the bypass because it is a longer surgery and he loves his craft, all the staff are great you are treated like royalty, if you have any other concers etc PM me and i can send you my pics.

Good luck!

Doug
