Food????
You would think that since I've been researching surgery since November 2006, that I would know the answer to this question, but, I don't. Shhhhhhhh. lol
After I'm done with the liquids, purees, soft, and then moving on to solid foods..... would following a diabetic recipe be a good idea, as long as it's low in carbs and sugars?
Reason why I am asking is because before Christmas I had picked up a Diabetic 30 Minute Meals cookbook from Company's Coming. I just found it yesterday while looking through some boxes for something totally unrelated to cooking and there it was along with a couple other cookbooks. I would like to have the chance to use this book in the future.
Happy Thursday from windy windy Lethbridge.

Hi--I think you might need to ask your doc this question. I think you are having the bypass so I don't think I know the answer.
After 3 weeks I eased into solids. My general meals are protein first few bites of veggie and maybe 1 bite of carbs...then I am full and always stop.
I would imagine that it would be pretty good given that it would be low in sugar.
you might want to post on the bypass board for a fast answer...and let us know if you find anything.
hugs to you

I am a diabetic and have had RNY May 12/09. I still take a minimal amount of insulin and an oral diabetic med. I have to watch closely my carbs and sugars. All diabetic recipes are meant for this.
I would still check with your dietician first, but honesty, it is a clean healthy way to eat anyway.
Good luck with your upcoming surgery!!

Awesome! Thanks for your helpful reply Rhonda. I'm happy to know that my diabetic cookbooks will still come in handy.
And thanks for the luck for my surgery. I'm so nervous, scared, and jittery. *chews nails off*
