Hi there,

Has anyone gone to a different country for any bariatric surgery.
If so where and what type of surgery and what was your experience.
The reason I ask is iam seriously considering VSG surgery and find that it is half price if not cheaper to go to a different country  to get it done.

Thanks in advance

Hello -
I am in  New Brunswick and have been looking at the different hospitals in Mexico to offer WLS also.  Could you please tell me where you are considering going?  How much is it, if you don't mind me asking.  Thanks and good luck!

Hello Judy
I looked at Calgary, Kelowna, Vancouver and Victoria
Prices were in around $18000 to 21000 for VSG surgery.
I live in BC 6 mos a year and Texas 6 mos.
In Texas the surgery is approx. $18000
Since I live in Texas... right on the Mexican border I thought I would look at Mexico as an alternative. Prices range from $5200 to $10000 for VSG
Mexico has surgeons in many places such as Mexicali, Tijuana, Monterrey etc
I booked with Dr Almanza in TJ just a few days ago,
Make sure you book with the actual clinic as prices are higher if you use a consulting company that just forwards your file for a commission.
These boards have been a great help for me
Good Luck

Hi Malcom,

I'm heading to Mexico on April 6th to have the sleeve done.  I have a friend who's already had it done and has done all the research and she's incredibly happy with her results so far.  She's lost 30lbs in 4 weeks.  I only have 40 lbs to loose and hope to be down by the summer.  I'm sick of yoyo dieting and trying to stay on plan and falling off again.  This is definately something that in my early 50's want to do and start a different life for myself.  Just google "gastric sleeve" and a bunch of video's will pop up on youtube.  You'll definately get a lot of information.  It's costing me $8,000.00 plus the cost of my flight.
