support group

Hi Alberta.

I am in Arizona again this winter and have been attending some really great support groups.  I wonder if any one in the Calgary area is interested in having such a group ( for all types of surgery and pre-post op people.)

I would be willing to take the group leader course to get us started in the spring and by fall when I leave again, maybe someone else will step up to the plate to keep it going.  Let me know if there is any interest.

I can't tell you how mych these groups have helped me get going again,.  I have a REallize band . The groups have support from dieticians, psych and exercise physiologists but even the groups with no professional guidance are great for sharing and learning from each other as well as getting the support you need to make these surgeries a sucess.

It was done in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I moved to Calgary last March :O)

You go girl-looks like you've got some interest in support groups now. You will do awesome!!
Vegas was great- except for the GD cigarette smoke and the long walks for Bonnie and her shortness of breath - Jersey Boys - phenomenal!

Where did you have your surgery done?
I guess unless we get it in Calgary we can't attend their support group , but I am sure willing to get together and support each other and maybe a few more will join.
What do you think , how often would you like to get together  etc.

I had my surgery done at the SWLC in Mississauga by Cr. Coburn.  Called for a consultation the first week in September and by the time the call was over my surgery was booked for Sept. 30th.   I was a self pay (because really who has the time or patienc to jump through Alberta's hoops)  they hooked me up with a choice of 3 hotels, loan for the procedure and support.   Even once a week would be great to get together, like you said if you don't have the procedure done here, they don't want to support you.    If you want to you can email me or msn me [email protected]
