Hi there,  I just got back from an appointment with Dr. Farries' nurse, Chirstine today and I got a date!!  I should get my VSG done on Oct 7 (unless there is a cancelation and I get in earlier).  I was 1st referred in May/08, had my 1st consultation Dec 29/08, went back every month so far and now will have surgery in Oct.  So will be just over 9 months from consult to surgery for me, kind of like waiting for a baby!  I am excited to say the least.  One thing I was told today was that Dr. F had been doing one surgery/ week most weeks but has been now doing 2/week (Wednesdays seem to be the day he does weight loss surgery) and as of Jan/2010 he plans on doing 2/week so that may speed up the wait list depending on how much busier he as gotten.  The time does go by quite fast once you get in the program.

Good Luck!

I remember my first time meeting Dr. Farries and he told it like it is.  He prepares you for what he expects from you to get ready for your operation.  Also his lovely nurse Christine weighs you and tells you what going on what to expect for up coming visits to the office and it took about an hour.

I had a complete gastric bypass done by Dr. Farries in January of 07. I have to date lost 200lbs and am currently recovering from my tummy tuck done by Dr. Robert Furness also here in Red Deer. The initial apointment to get into see Dr. Farries is probably the longest wait, and then the subsequent follow up appointment before he decides whether or not you are a good candidate. Once that is decided and the surgery is booked I would have no idea as to how long of a wait you may have from them.
What I can tell you, in no uncertain words and without any shadow of a doubt is that Dr. Farries is the finest, most professional and empathetic surgeon, or in fact doctor I have ever encountered. Christine and the support services th epractice provides are invaluable as far as questions, follow and support are concerned. I was not a candidate for the lap band or any laparascopic surgery which is why I had a full bypass. One thing you will have to sagow is that you are completely and totally committed to the process as it will be for the rest of your life.
My new me is .....the most indescribable thing I could ever explain to you...too bad i can't show you before and after pics. You would swear it was a hoax!

It is almost a year since my operation and I am 75 lbs. free.  I am healthy and well in mind and spirit.  This is the best thing that ever happened to me.  I can eat anything I want but just smaller portions.  My two new knees are liking the weight lost too.  What a wonderful thing this operation does for people like me.  Thank you dear Dr.Farries.  God Bless you and your lovely staff.

I recommend to anyone with this problem Do It.  It will set you free.

My best to all

He is so darn busy, he has a deadline for taking people for the year coming after Feb 1st.  You are on the list and probley see him sometime March.  I have had my operation by this amazing Doctor and already lost 18 lbs in less than one month.  It is a mind set and you can do it.  I feel so excited and well and not sick from this easy operation.

When I was in the Red Deer hospital I was treated with great respect and concern.  I recommend this Doctor and staff or the best care in your life.

Thanks Dr. Farries and your great cousin Christine Farries for the best care a ol girl could have.  I will always tell all my clients about where my new life came from.  You!!!!!

I am so happy and the wait was well worth it and can't express enough to study and get a positive mind set and than you will be inspiring young and old there is a chance for a new and thinner life.
