I am just starting to look into surgical weight loss alternatives.  How do I go about making a decision if this is right for me.  I have bee overweight all of my life and have lost and gained many pounds.  I am sick and tired of being overweight.  I feel that this is my last resort.
Should my first step be consulting my family dr. to see if I am a candidate?  I am relatively healthy with no major issues except high blood pressure.  But I am getting to the point where I am starting to worry about my knees and possibly hurting myself by falling.
Please tell me where to start.

Hello Wannabe thinMom--I think that you will always wonder. Here is how I decided...I put my name on the list for the clinic in Edmonton...then I waited, which gave me tons of time to think and learn the rules and the type of surgery that I am interested in. So far I have lost almost 40 lb...learned a lot on the way...and still am deciding everyday I worry about my decision.

What I have learned from being on the forums...there is always a tiny bit of buyers remorse whatever you decide.
If you are in Canada...get on the list...then decide either way. The process for me has been very helpful...even though I knew a lot about nutrition.

Keep posting and checking out the forums...read many pages back and you will find how happy others are with the type of surgery they had.

You can either believe it will happen...or believe it won't both are self fulfilled prophesies
