Seven Days out and doing fine - hope you are too!!

I am having a great week, I'm figuring out how to keep track of everything, think I'll use thedailyplate.com, even my vitamins are listed on there!
It looks like I can even export it and print it off to keep a permanent record.
My GP took me off 7 meds yesterday when I saw him so he had a big smile on his face. Me too!
Of course I'm still on full fluids but feel like I'm doing well, managing to get 60+ gms of protein without too much struggle.
My troubles might  happen when I try to add "real" foods.
I can drink water OK - just have to go slow.
I'm using some protein powders and mixes that the surgeon's assistant recommended, also making everything with milk to add a little more protein..
My pouch seems to like warm, so I make myself sit down and sip a nice cup of tea every so often.
I have so much energy and ambition that I keep thinking they must have done some transplants!! This is not like me!

I just don't want to slam up against a brick wall so I am trying to take it easy.

Hey Joann--Congrats seems like you are doing great! You didn't have to track preop?
You must have lots a ton of weight by now.
Cheers to your new life

Hi - Thanks for writing back. This is a tough forum to get people tp talk to you on, isn't it?

I did track pre-op but just in a journal which I took to the surgeon each visit , that was easy, since  I was just trying to make sure I only ate 1 cup of food 3 times a day.
That was Dr. Farries pre-op diet. I lost 53 lbs since September that way - so I know that works!!

Since surgery I find that I need to mostly make sure do protein grams (mydailyplate adds em up as you go) so its easy to see what you still need and at first just getting enough fluids was even a challenge.
Also the meds and vitamins are new to me too so I feel I should write them down. It is all coming together.

As far as weight, I haven't lost a thing yet, other than the weight I put on while I was on intravenous and not eating in the hospital.

I guess we'll see what happens now, my bowels finally moved yesterday for the first time since the lovely bowel prep I did - dear god was it only last Tuesday!!

Mostly what has happened to me is that I have this new, energy and ambition!!

I so feel sorry for my darling procrastinating husband, as I just have a new let's get er done attitude, these days and he is getting stuck in the middle of it.

Luckily he is able to escape to the golf course on occasion, however that leaves me more time to think up things we should do - lol.

Anyway - take care and I'll be watching for you.

Hi:  Reading about everyone's surgery is really getting me excited!  I am looking forward to a support group but don't have a mic or camera.  I'm not very computer savy.

I wanted to have the lap-band surgery but living so far north, I'm beginning to think maybe I should go for the sleeve.  They told me I would have to travel to Edm. for fill-ups with a lap-band.

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons about the different types of surgery.

Hi Fluff-Up front I need to tell you I am completely bias. Living farther away from a major center I am more for the sleeve. I am on the sleeve forum and about every 5 days this question is posed. You might want to go to each forum and start to read back pages...you will find tons of information.
Here are a few links to check out.

It is your decision...good luck and let us know when you decide.

For the suport group you don't need a camera...just grab a cheap mic at walmart or staples.
What about we try it out next Sunday...June 7th?

Wow Kelly I looked at your profile page.

You must be so excited!! You are doing fabulous.

It sounds as if things have settled down for you a bit now.

I can't get over that I am not wanting food, I assume that comes back at some point but for now I'll just do as I'm supposed to.

I'm getting a little nervous about starting on food (what a hoot eh?) but I'm sure it will be fine.

If you have a moment could  you remind me what foods you first tried? Or I can check your homepage. Anyway it's a strange journey!!

Talk to you soon and thanks for keeping an eye on me.

Early on I did the protien shake, milk, yogurt, soups and water. Then I moved to blended / soft food diet of roast beef dinner, chunky soups (homemade) cottage cheese, cheese sticks, ham cold cuts. After that I started adding in more and more foods each day...some good, some bad. Just remember to keep the protien shake as priority along with vitamins and water and as you feel confident and as your doctor prescribes add foods back in.
