Hi folks,
I finally managed to find a doctor in Calgary to begin working towards having surgery someday down the road. I have an appt to meet her next week but I've never interviewed a doctor before (I haven't had a family doc in about 12yrs...)! So I would really appreciate any tips on questions I should ask or if there are things I should bring with me, that sort of thing.
Thanks!!!!

Ive been living in Calgary for aprrox 12 years myself, and like you, have
not been able to find a family doctor, let along a Bariatric Surgeon. In
fact I'de really appreciate knowing the Doctors name if you wouldnt
mind sharing that information. It would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as you - I've been in Calgary for about 15yrs and have never really had a family doctor, just going to walk-in when really sick etc. I was going thru the physician search website @ www.cpsa.ab.ca/PhysicianSearch when I came across her & saw that unlike most other women doctors she was focused on Bariatrics & Medical Weight Consulting. The doctor's name is Dr. Peggy Burke, her office is at 105 - 10655 Southport Rd SW & the number is (403) 278-3411. Reading some of the other posts on the forum, it turns out she also does fills for those who've gotten the Lap Band procedure done. In talking with the receptionist, it was made very clear that she will not be a GP for (so the hunt for the family doc continues!) altho she will order tests and whatnot as required for the Weight Mgmt service. I'm very excited about seeing her and will be sure to post back here after my appt next week.

Thx JerzeeGirl, and I have heard of her. In fact she comes over to my
walk-in clinic in Castleridge every Thursday to do some pre-natal stuff
which is why I never bothered seeing her.  But I'll get my GP to set
something up and I'll see how that goes.  And listen, if there's anything
I can do for you just let me know. Im there!

Hey there-I would ask her for a referral (not sure which program you are interested in) I wouldn't wait to build a relationship, build that later while you are waiting for the referral to go through.

Did you see tis webpage?
