After care issues in Alberta

I had RYN 3 years ago. My sister had it in Feb 09. She died six weeks later. I tell you this not to scare you. I firmly believe her surgeon,  is one of the best. He would have saved her life if she would have been in his hospital. The problem was she lived 3 hours from him. She was sent home after a dialation and died a week later. Rural Drs are not capable of managing us. We are a mystery to them. The Dr in her small rural hospital did not transfer her fast enough. She sat in the hospital for 3  and a half days when she should have been transported day 1.  She died 15 mins from her surgeon in an ambulance - of course not stars because they had no idea how serious it was.
 UUUGGGHHHH
Advice - beware of your after care. Also don't believe Drs know all.

I'm so sorry for your loss, losing a family member is so hard.  Thank you for posting your story.  Its a sad day when someone dies of complications in a country that is supposed to have top notch healthcare.  I too am from Alberta, although I live in Calgary I can understand the frustration and devistation you must have felt.  My mother passed away after spending so much time waiting for doctors to get it together and get her in to see the specialists that it was too late when they finally figured out what was wrong.   People have to be their own advocates and fight for what they believe to be right, never disregard your gut feelings, they can save your life!
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am sorry someone you loved has passed, I cannot imagine how you feel. Thi**** home for me as I live on a rural area and I can see the urgency to go to the doctor that performs the surgery if I get into trouble.
You must feel so frustrated....I am so sorry
Can you share what was wrong with her? I am not that familiar with RYN I am more familiar with the sleeve.
Thanks

She had a procedure 5 weeks after the RYN to enlarge here intestine because scar tissue had nearly blocked the flow of food, it was done endoscopically (down her throat) The Dr put two holes in her intestine at that time ( we believe , as we are waiting for the final autopsy). So she died of septic shock on her way to her surgeons hospital 3 hrs away. He( the surgeon) could have saved her life but the Dr in her small town kept her there 4 days after the pain started thinking fluids was all she needed. He was wrong and the gastric juices in her abdominal cavity basically ate away at her organs and bacteria festered throughout her body and stopped her heart 15 mins away from her surgeons hospital. Speed is a thing rural Drs do not have. She died because a Dr dragged his feet. My caution is light a fire under a Dr if you need too. That is a regret my family now has to live with. Don't let it be anyone elses.

Probably too much info but there it is.
