DS done in Mexico or Spain

Hello Albertans!

I'm from the Ontario board, but I am seriously considering the self-pay option for a DS.  I know that there is a community of folks from Alberta have gone to Mexico for the procedure, so I'm trying to track them down in the hopes that they could provide some info and advice.  If anyone has gone to see Dr. Baltasar in Spain, that would be helpful too.

Delila   be very careful about  goiing out of country for your surgery as often no doctor at home is willing to follow you afterwards.  Try and get someone in place as your followup surgeon before you commit to an out of country surgery.I know this is frustrating for many people who have had surgeries out side of Canada.
It is ridiculous as far as I am concerned, especially when the wait lists are so long in Canada but there are surgeons in Ontario and now in Edmonton who do do the sleeve, but I don't know of anyone who does DS.

I went to Brazil and had my DS done there with Dr Marchesini, he is wonderful and many from Sask. and Alberta have gone to him. I was looking at Mexico first , Dr Unigson??? Spelling??? Is well known in Mexico, My surgery was about 15 thousand Canadian. The Mexico option was 17 US, I am a revision so it is more than a new DS.The 15 Canadian included hotel, airfare. The 17 US was just for the procedure. Check out the Ds forum and ask all you want about mexico and Spain, and Brazil. There are lots of patients who can answer your questions. Good luck,

I too was looking at Dr. Ungson for a revision to DS, but he charges $16k USD just for the proceedure!!  Do you have the contact info for Dr. Marchesini??  I have googled and got no where!  Did you book your surgery through a company to get air included??  Thanks!
