An Eydie update
Well, Alberta , we are a slow bunch when it comes to posting much aren't we?
Well. I am three and a half weeks out now since my surgery and doing quite well. I lost 18lbs the first three weeks but my loss has slowed as I add in more solid food and I only lost a lb last week...but that is a pound I will never see again so it's great!
I am having a little trouble getting in the amount of protein my NUT suggests but I will keep trying. Getting in a full 8 glasses of H2O is also a challenge but I try very hard to remember to take my water bottle everywhere with me.
My apptetite is coming back and I find that when I am late getting a meal I feel hungry now but I am still managing to control portions . I guess that is not abnormal as the healing progresses and there is no fill yet in the band.
I see the doctor on the 23 of Dec and I think he will do my first fill then .
Well I hope you are all doing well. I'd love to hear from others who had their surgery at Weight Wise in Edmonton.

Hi Eydie, glad to hear you're doing well. It doesn't get any easier getting all the water in, but it really does help. It probably sounds silly, but I like to drink ho****er instead of cold, especially at this time of year. I find hot drinks go down easier too. Do you have to go to Edmonton for fills? Take care and I hope your first fill is easy.

Hi and thanks for the ho****er tip, I like hot drinks too especially when it is so darn cold out/
Yes, I do have to go to Edmonton for my fills but I think it is better as my surgeon knows where he put the port etc and I wouldn't want someone else to wreck it.
Only bad part is it's a long drive especially in the winter.
Hope all is going well for you. Are you getting your fills in Calgary?

Hi Eydie, Took me a while to figure out this new board, but it looks good. Dr Mitchell does my fills here in Calgary, but last time I was there he was training a nurse to do them. I've met a lot of Mexican bandsters and some who went to Ontario as well. I'm due to go back in a week or so for another fill, but we're leaving for a 2 week cruise on New years Eve and I'm a little afraid to leave the country with a new fill. I actually don't think I need one right now anyway so I think I'll wait til we return.
Are you eating real food yet? I think the hardest thing for me(still) is eating slowly enough.
Take care. Keep in touch.

Wow the cruise sounds great and I'm with you ..I'd wait on the fill.
My fill is Dec 23, first one and we are going to Arizona at New Years for a bout three months I hope I will be okay, I will probably fly home in mid Feb. for my second fill and then not get another one until April.
Yes I have started to add real solid food now. I am four weeks out frpm surgery and seems to be doing well, but I had a real acidy, burning stomach all day today...not sure why.
Hey , is there a support group in Calgary that you go to?? If not maybe we should get one going when I get back in the spring. I'd love to have one to attend.
Have a great holiday season and a terrific cruise. Where are you cruising too?

I don't know of any support groups in Calgary, but it would be a good idea to have someone who gets it to talk to. Let's try to keep in touch and when winter is over we can talk about how to do it. I retired in June, but our 3 weeks n January is the most I can get my husband out of the office, for now. We're taking back to back cruises from Ft Lauderdale to Eastern then western Caribbean - San Juan, St Thomas, Antigua, Tortola, Grand Cayman, Jamaica. I always say I don't care where the ship goes as long as I'm on it.
Have a wonderful Christmas season. Hope all goes well with your fill.
Enjoy Arizona!

Hi there,
New to the site, and have been working towards having some type of weight loss surgery for several years, and today I finally got some good news! Dr. Nohr's office called & my appointment has been moved up to February 10, 2009! I am so excited to have this consult, and am wondering if there is anyone out there who can give me a ball park as to how long to get the surgery once you've had the consult. His nurse said 6-12 months unless there is a cancellation, and I'm hoping that it isn't quite that long. Also can you tell me what to expect post op? I've had a hysterectomy so wondering if it will be similar to that type of operation. I look forward to hearing from any and all who would like to chat. Merry Christmas to everyone...............................
