Hi. My name is Michelle. I am soo glad that I found this website! As all you, I am struggling with losing weight. I am currently looking for a doctir or clinic that will do the Adjustable Lap Band Surgery for a reasonable price. I applied and was accepted to the Toronto clinic but it cost $16,000 and I can not afford this. Is this the going rate or I able to find an affordable clininc/doctor? I have been enjoying all of your postings and I hope to keep in touch. Thanks for listening!

You should post on the main lapband form. Many of them are self payers. Most are american but heck with the dollar at almost at par what does it matter. It is also an awsome tool to see the posts and experiences everyone is having. Majority of people love there band, but a few are struggling with using the band as it is only a tool. check it out and ask the question there, you will get a ton of responses.Good Luck!

I had the band put in a year ago in Toronto for the $16,000. you are talking about. Best investment I have ever made!!! They are awesome there. Now, I have heard mixed things about going to the states and Mexico due to the language barrier (mexico) and finding a Dr. that will do your fills. There is a Dr. right there in St. Albert that does the fills and was trained by the surgeons at the clinic in Toronto that did mine. He will not however take on anyone who went out of country to get theirs done. (risk of complications maybe???) He is an awesome Dr. and I have seen him many times. Hi Michelle! I was banded in Mexico in November of 2007 and have lost 83 lbs so far! I would do it again in a heartbeat!! The cost is only $7,500.00 and there is a person in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan who will do your fills for you. As a matter of fact - she was trained by the doctor who did my band! She is also banded by the same doctor and is a Registered Nurse. I have seen her for 4 fills already and she is very good. Hey Girls, I guess if you have your heart set on the band, there is a private clinic in Calgary , I hear the cost is like 16 thousand, but cheaper than flying/driving East. Thats why I was checking out Mexico at my Doctors suggestion. Lap bands are less than half price down there, with very skilled surgeons. He had one patient go and had all his pre-op done here to say money and he was done in less than six weeks.I want the DS procedure, but I am having a revision so I should know more this week. If all goes well i will be having the surgery in the first week of September. Fee for service is shockingly fast!!!! Keep us posted.Oh, and my Doc is wonderful, he has been my family doctor for years, and I trust him. He doesn't get kick backs lol just says to do the research and I even went through a medical broker kinda thing. I don't know if that makes a difference or not but in my mind it gives me added piece of mind.All the best, Heather

lol lol Oh my gosh lol I poured out my little soul to you and it didnt post!!! lol Maybe it's a sign!!! lol I guess I'll make this one shorter.No I had the stomach stapling and it didn't work for me long term. After regaining most of my weight I wanted to do a revision. I checked out this site and found the DS procedure. It has the best results long term. Check out the revision forum, its kinda cool to see where or how people fair long term.
