I just hope you are not over 50! I waited over a year to get an appointment with him and when my family doc. called they refused because of my age. Good luck. I'm sure all will go well. Lois

Hi there,
So how did your appt go?  I had my first appt. with Dr. Farries on Sept 15th.  Kind of exciting but scary at the same time.  I found the appt. to be kind of rushed and I wish that they would have had more handouts. I know they want you to lose 10% of your body weight and to learn to eat 1cup of food for each meal, and limit the snacking.  He also said no caffeince or products with aspertame.  Aspertame I can understand...caffeine though?  I'm not sure if this was an error or not.  Did he say the same thing to you?

If you saw him in June, you must be going for your surgery soon?  How did your first few appt's go??

Thanks
Karen

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum and was excited to see someone who had gone to Dr Farries.  I'v looked on other forums but haven't found much about him.  I was referred in May, they told me it would be 4 - 5 months to see him but I haven't heard anything yet.  How long did it take you to get in?  Are you planing to get lap band or RNY?  I'm thinking lap band but I'm not sure how many he has done.  I know it's weird, but I am actually looking foreward to starting the diet to loose 10%, at least then things will be happening finally.  I have concidered self paying if this takes too long!

Thanks,
Marie

I am really strugaling with the 3 cups of food a day.    Have you been to see him yet?

Wooohoo, I finally got a call for Dr. Farries' office this week,  they had a cancelation on Dec 29th so I took it!  I'm so excited to finally get things rolling.   How long was it  between your 1st consult and your surgery?  3 cups of food per day, wow that sounds hard! (but totally worth it!).  Are you getting a bypass or the band?

I am still in the weight loss stage. He will want you to loose 10% of your body weigh before he books your surgery. I asked him for more time because I am not sure about having the surgery now. I am thinking the Band. I can't go as drastic as the by-pass.

I went back & forth between band and bypass but now I've decided the bypass is way too invasive for me.  The band doesn't seem like that big of a deal to get done concidering the effects it can have on my weight loss.  I heard he would want me to lose 10% before operating, I know I can do that but I'm thinking the diet plan he puts me on could be pretty tough.  Oh well, I guess I will find out soon enough!
