Hi, I am in search of a DS bypass surgeon. I had the surgery a year ago and due to complications the surgery failed. There is no longer any surgeons that do this surgery anymore in my province. Medicare will pay for my surgery in any other province, as long as it falls under the health care system. Private clinics are not an option. If anyone has any Doctor's names, phone and or fax #'s I would be extremely greatful for the information. Thanks so much, Donna

Hi Donna, check out the Onatrio board, there are a ton of DS patients on there. All with great success and a ton to say! Can I ask what type of surgery you had and why it failed? Dr.Birch in Edmonton is doing my band on June 3rd.

Dr. Marcineau in Montreal may do it. He is very busy though, and I'm not sure if he is taking out of province cases. Check out www.duodenalswitch.com for all the recommended surgeons.

Hi Camellia, Thanks for the information. Dr. Brian Colquhoun in Saskatoon is retired, he had a stroke. He was my surgeon but due to his retirement I was passed on to his partner Dr. Groot who performed my surgery. I also have been in touch with Dr. Marceau in Laval. They do not like taking out of province patients. They are afraid if something goes wrong the patient lives to far away to help them. I told them I am originally from Montreal and my parents are there and I could stay indefinetly with them. But he was still very hesitant and has to date not responded with a final answer. These are the kinds of things that I am facing. I need revisional surgery but I also have some massive hernia's that are causing complications so the surgeons are hesitant about taking me on. Most of them say I will have to get on their waiting list of no less then three years. I will be very honest with you it has been 18 months since my surgery and I know that I can not handle the pain for another 3 years no matter how much Morphine they give me. I am presently waiting on two Dr.'s a Dr. Nohr in Medicine Hat Alberta and a Dr. Davies in Edmonton. If neither one of them take me then Sask. Health will have to send me out of the country. I am so frustrated and fed up but what can you do. I sincerely thank you for trying to help me I greatly apprecitate it. Thanks, Donna
