Hi Everyone, Dr. Farries should now be finished taking all the referrals for the year. How long should someone wait to receive a consult appt? I would like to start phoning to see when but I have bugged them so much in the last couple of weeks regarding phoning or faxing in the referrals that I need to wait. I am from the BC site and haven't posted for at least a year. I gave up on having surgery in BC or Out of Country. Did all the Testing with Dr. Meneghetti and was to have been around 5 on his surgical list. The Health Authority wouldn't allow him to procede and we were left in the lurch. Dr. Amson has cornered the market for BC, hmmm. I have been denied out of country twice so they are not an option. I have no comorbidities. Would love some insight from any who have had surgery with him ? Sarah

I was referred to Dr ferries as well. I herd that he only does the once a year referral thing for Gastric by-pass. I could be wrong. Have you herd different? I am waiting to hear back from his office as well. Could you let me know if you get an appt. I am trying to get the surgery as quick as possible with out paying an arm and a leg.

Hi Kari, Thank you for the response. He does only for gastric referrals once a year. It was on May 5. I am just not very patient. Marilyn from the office originally told me it could take a couple of weeks to slot all the appointments. I am just glad my referral got through. If I hear anything I will email right away. Have you gotten a referral for the gastric or are you having banding? Wondered because of the arm & leg statement? Sarah

I am looking for the band. I herd about him and I did not know he did banding until a few weeks ago. I asked my Dr. to refer me, so I am just waiting to hear from his office. I do not know if he charges for the band or not though. We will see. I just can't afford to pay the thousands of dollars for the surgery.

hello every one, in response to the question how long doest it take for the appointment, last year when my doctor made the call for the consult on the first monday in may, i got a date that very day. but i did want to let people know that he has changed his practices for accepting patients. he is know accepting referrals from GP at any time, then the office will contact u by phone with a consultant date. i know he was booked up at the end of april, my mother is still waiting for a consultation date from the office. sorry to break the bad news and good luck to all i saw dr.farries oct/07 last year and i am having my sugery may 14/08 good luck -julie

Julie, Good luck and safe recovery on the 14th. Thanks for the info. My referral was faxed in by the 5th of May as per Dr.'s office request. I haver talked to Christine and Marilyn at the office likely once every week and a half. He maybe doing lapband that way, but I was told to be patient that it would take a few weeks to schedule all the appointments for gastric by-pass. Plus they get over 300 faxes a day because of other Dr's?. The office was having a hard time getting him to commit to either faxing or phoning so I did what she told me to do. Sarah
