Help needed!!!

My mom and I were both refered in Calgary for the Lap band surgery. We got a reply saying that other than a high BMI (over 47) that there is not enough things medically wrong with us to get the surgery in Calgary. Does anyone have any ideas or options??? Any help would be awesome...

Hi there. I went to Toronto to have mine done at the Surgical Weight Loss Center. I had to pay for it but it was the best investment I could have ever made. You cannot put a price on your health. So, if you are willing to shell out the money...I would go there. Have you tried the Edmonton clinic - Dr Davey and Dr Birch at the Royal Alex. You get referred to the Weight Wise program. There is a referral form on capital health.com. The band is covered with them through AHC. They do alot of RNY surgeries and have been doing more band surgeries (most people seem to opt for the RNY) I'm one they suggested the band but I wanted the RNY. I think if you want the band it may even be quicker. Not sure. The wait times can be long though so if you can go somewhere else and pay then it may be quicker Carolyn

Dr Farries is starting doing lap-band this year. His wait list opens up in May for the year. I'd get a refferal in right away and see where it gets you. Paula
