Banded 3 mos ago and only down 16lbs. How should my restriction feel?

I've had one successful fill (2cc's), but things are still going down too easily. Trust me, I've felt the incredible pain associated with things getting "stuck", but I don't feel restricted with most things. How should a "PERFECT" fill feel like?

Hi Richelle. It does take some time and some fills to hit that "sweet spot". I was banded back in Feb and just had my third fill in August. I am finally at a spot where I am eating a small amount and feeling satisfied. When I got this last fill, I was too tight, but I stuck it out and it adjusted within a few weeks. You may need to go for another fill. How many CC's are you at? I am at 6 right now. My first one they put 2 in (I already had 2) then my second one they put one more and my most recent one was another 1 cc. The band is a fickle little thing and we need to play around with it to get to that spot. I don't know what the "perfect" fill should feel like but I do know that once you have it, you will know it. For me, there are foods that I could eat before this last fill that I no longer can. I notice the biggest difference in the morning and if I don't have something hot to drink, nothing goes through. I hope this helps a bit. Where were you banded? I was done in Toronto. Take care and if you want to email me, feel free at [email protected]. Dawn

Hi Dawn. Thanks for your response about a "perfect fill". I'm glad to hear you've done well with the band, and you've helped encourage me to be a bit more aggressive with my fills. I can handle soup for a while if it will jumpstart my weightloss again.

Hi Richelle...well I am in the same spot as you except I had my surgery 8 months ago and am only down my initial 20 lbs. I have had fill #4 and I always have the same result, tight at the beginning and then I am able to eat pretty much everything. I don't know why this happens to me but I guess I will get to the "sweet spot" that they talk about. I know now the tightness of the band when something isn't going down and at least I can feel that now. I just have to keep telling myself that it look me awhile to get to my optimum weight which was pre-surgery 325 and it is going to take awhile to get it off. The only problem is that co-workers and family know I had the surgery and they are expecting a lot more weight loss by now. But I am hopeful! As Sue the nurse tells me, "everyone is different and so their weight loss is different" so words to live by. I did't tell you my experience to get you down, I just wanted to tell you about it because it is happening to me. I wish you great sucess and from your pic. you are going to be one hot babe when you are finished your journey. God bless. Karen
