I have my first class tomorow for the weight managment program. I was wondering what length of time people have found it has been, untill they get to see Dr. Mitchel after the process has begun? Has the weight managment program been helpful to anyone? I am really looking forward to this process and I am hopeing that the classes help with the weight loss.

I had my first class last November and didn't see a surgeon until 6 months after the fact. I'm nowhere near close to having the surgery. They now have new stipulations, you have to also have a comorbidity to be able to attend the program. Good luck, it can be frustrating at times.

I am fortunate I guess that I have other problems from this, But did you find trhe program useful? Did you make the lifestyle changes? And did you loose weight from the program?

The program is great! Lots of support in every area but they are very understaffed. I lost about 11lbs from the time I first started the program. You have to in fact lose weight to be eligible for the surgery, I thinks its 5% of your total body fat. I thought I would see Dr Mitchell also, but there is more than 1 surgeon on the team I think there are 4 or 5 in total, as well as dieticians and psychologists and as a team they decide if they think you will be a successful candidate for the surgery. Hope this helps.
