Hi Ramone, Rhonda and other fellow bandsters, I went to the Peter Lougheed Hospital today to have my fluoroscopy and saw my port - nice and straight and not flipped - a big relief!! Had another long wait, but they filled my band and I can definately feel restriction right now, so we'll see if it lasts. Anyway, not much to it, and very nice people there. Ramone how has it been for you since the fill? Take care. Betty

Hi Betty, That is excellent news!!! Let's see... big relief... restriction aaaannnddd you got to see everything through fluro... Gotta love it! I'm doing OK with my fill. I had a 'sliming' incident a few days later, but that was because of my stupidity (fortunately, it wasn't a violent episode or anything!). Other than that I'm just getting the hang of things... I gotta remember.... small bites, chew, chew, chew.... At least the Band enjoys reminding me who is in charge... From a hunger standpoint, I honestly couldn't tell you when I'm hungry or not... I've heard my stomach gurgle and if it it's close to a mealtime I'll have something to eat. I am fighting temptation to 'eat around the band' but it's only mental hunger/stress... Even when I do cave in, it is nowhere near the extreme I would go to before. I just don't feel hunger anymore. I'm sure this will change as time goes on, but it's just weird... I have a fill scheduled for the end of September, so I figure I'll determine the week before whether or not to reschedule... I'm always hopeful that I'll be one of the lucky ones who only needs one fill, but I doubt it! Take Care, Ramone

Great News, I'm happy that you didn't have any complications with your port. I hope all goes well from here on out. Take care, Rhonda

HI Betty Why did you think your port was flipped. I have been having some pain around my port sight or just below actually. It hurts when I sit up or bend over I have a Doctors appointment today. I am thinking maybe hernia but I guess it could be my port. I get my first fill on Sept. 22nd when Dr. Kuri is in Saskatoon. I am looking forward to it. I am hungry most of the time. I can only eat a little at a time but still get very hungry. Penny

Hi Penny, good to hear from you. I was like you - hungry but only eating small bits at a time. When I went to Dr Mitchell for my first fill he couldn't access the port, tried 5 or 6 times then sent me to hospital for fluoro. He thought it could be flipped or just hard to get into until I lose more weight. Anyway, I got the fill and have restriction for now, can only eat very small amounts and rarely feel hungry. I hope it lasts a long time. I had pain sometimes around the port, sort of like a pulled muscle pain, for several weeks but that's gone now. I hope your appt goes well. I wish I could go to Saskatoon to see Dr Kuri, but that's my weekend to work. Keep in touch. Betty

Hi Betty I have been having a lot of trouble with my fills or lack of... I had a fill on Sept 22 Dr Kuri and I was too full. I had a doc try to remove some & he couldn't get in the port so off to the hosp. under fluoro & he removed some but too much. I went to a nurse in S'toon and she tried for over an hour and could not get in... So I'm a little frustrated. The nurse said she has several dr. Kuri pt's that she can not access the port easily. My next try is in a couple of weeks and if she can't get it I will phone Dr. Kuri to see what we can do. I have gained 2 lbs in 2 weeks but to me that is like gaining it all back. I get really frustrated. Hope things are well with you. keep in touch! Penny

Hi Penny, So sorry to hear you're having trouble with port access. I haven't tried again as yet, although I have been thinking lately it may be time for another fill. I must admit I'm a bit nervous about going back in case he can't find it again. I'm still losing, but very slowly. I'm sure it's my own fault because my sugar addiction has reared it's ugly head and sweet things go down really easily. But at least the amount I can eat is limited. I don't know why the doc had such a hard time finding my port the first time, when I saw it on the x-ray it looked perfect. Anyway I think I will call tomorrow and make an appointment. I don't think I really know what good restriction feels like but I need to stop the bad stuff, and maybe a fill will help. I hope your next try is a success, as it must be frustrating. Nice to hear from you, this board is pretty quiet. Take care. Betty
