Ramone and Betty, an update
Hi Ramone and Betty,
Finally the CD with my x-rays arrived in Mexico on Monday afternoon. I am disappointed with Purolator. I sent the CD on Tuesday July 31st and it was supposed to take 2 business days to get there. Plus it cost $55 to send the CD. Anyway, I finally heard from Nathalie (human resources) and Dr. Joya had a look at the CD and said the band and everything looks fine and is in the correct position (BIG load off my mind!). I am just one of those people that it will take longer to transition from liquids over to solids. I guess I got worried when I read other people's posts that said they were hungry and could eat anything. The restriction I am experiencing is normal for some people and I guess I won't need a fill anytime soon.
I was glad I had the x-rays done as it helped me understand what is going on when I eat. I brought the CD home and looked at the pictures on my computer and it helped me see that I was probably eating too fast (although I thought I was eating slow). Now I take 45 minutes to eat supper. When I feel discomfort coming on I stop eating for 5 minutes or so before resuming. But I don't give up. Before I would eat the 4 tsp of food and when the pain began I would just stop eating altogether. So now I try slow everything down. I am still not getting in a lot of calories during the day, but I have some ideas how to increase that in a healthy way. I was just holding off until I was sure that everything was okay with the band. Also all my years of dieting have given me a 'diet mentality'. So if I'm at the store trying to decide what to buy I will look for the low fat, low calorie choice, which in my situation is probably not the best when I am trying to increase the calories to a healthier level. So I am feeling better about my choice to get the band and about my situation.
Betty I know what you mean about the food issues at work. My mom is a cook at an Assisted Living Facility and she also has a weight problem. All of the food is homemade with lots of yummy desserts. I hope after your fill you will be able to deal better with the temptation, especially if you really like your work.
Thank you both for your concern. Keep in touch.
Rhonda
Rhonda, so glad to hear things are looking up for you. Thanks for the update. I think you should complain to Purolator, that's too long, especially for that much money. It is more of a concern, when something seems not quite right and your doctor is so far away, but I guess we all realized that when we made our decision to go to Mexico. Anyway, I hope it's smooth sailing from now on for you, you deserve a break!!
Betty
