Back home and Banded!
Well, it's finally done... and now the fun begins.
Chain of Events:
Thursday June 28th... Fly out at 7:00am from Calgary, get to Monterrey, MX and at the OCA by 5:00pm'ish. Got my EKG, bloodwork and Chest X-Ray done...Everything looks good.
Friday June 29th... 7:00am...They come and get me, put in an IV and a bit before 8:00am they give me the 'happy' juice...Next thing I know, I wake up in recovery at 12:00pm and I say 'uhhhh' and go back to sleep. In my own room by 2:30pm and do the recovery thing. Very minimal pain... A bit of what I guess was gas pain (no biggie).
Saturday June 30th... 11:00am... Discharged to my hotel room, took a cab to a shopping mall and marvelled how it's exactly like Calgary (Sears, etc) except that it's twice the price and everyone speaks Spanish.... Had a bit of a rough night getting adjusted from the hositpal 'soft' and 'adjustable' bed to the 'hard' and 'unmoving' hotel bed.
Sunday July 1st... Leave the hotel at 5:30am to catch my flight at 7:20am... Get back to Calgary at 2:30pm... Get harassed by Canada Customs but I give them the slip....ahahahahahahahahah.....
Now here I am trying to get a grip on what the heck I'm going to eat, getting organized, etc!
Overall, the hardest part was wedging my butt into the darn airplane seats and trying to be comfortable and just the normal 'air travel' suffering that everyone goes through!
It sure is good to be home...
I am really interested in what you had done. I was told that you could get the lap band treatment in edmonton. Why did you have to go to monterey? Did alberta health care pay for it. I am a senior and 100 pounds over weight. It is really affecting my life. My legs can hardly hold me up anymore. I am constantly in pain in my back and legs. I would love to hear your story to see if I am on the right track. I see Dr. Mckenna at the weight management clinic in the nw. And she said it could be done in edmonton. Please fill me in.

Hi Ramone,
Glad to hear you, too are home safe and sound! Your experience sounds almost exactly the same as mine, except we were inTijuana. I don't really have much pain, just sore at the incision where the port was placed. It hurts to laugh, sneeze or cough, but is getting better. I am not hungry at all and will be on clear fluids for one more day, then full fluids. Clear broth, popsicles, juices, Jello and lots of water. Is your timing the same? I had the most embarrassing thing happen on the way home. The plane was a smaller one and the seatbelt barely reached around me, my husband had to help me snap it shut. I wanted to cry, then I thought, this will NEVER happen to me again. And I'm so glad I had this done now. Anyway, take care and keep in touch.
