Help me out.

I am new to this site and looking for all possible surgens in Alberta or BC for lap band or gastric bypass. Can any one help me out. I am on a waiting list for Dr.Mitchell in Calgary buy I herd that it is a REALLY long wait.

Hi Kari I think ALL the surgeons in AB have a long waiting list...anywhere from 1-2 years...some are going to Mexico to have the procedure done but having a hard time finding Doctors to do their fills or have to pay a price for fills. For myself, I won't go to Mexico...guess I am just a woosy. If there ARE complications, where can one turn to? What if you can't find someone to do the fills? We hear alot about all the success's, there must be some out there who have had problems having surgery out of the country (as I know there can be complications in AB too). Even though my body is obese, I still want to treat it like a temple..so when things go wrong, I want it taken care of locally.

All Surgeons in Alberta and BC Have VERY Long wait times.. If your already on someones waiting list, stay there.. It may seem like forever but it will come faster than you think.. My wait will be almost 5 years and alot of hassle.. But now im down to 3 months til my surgery.. It will all be worth the wait come September 17th..

Where are you having your surgery Stepanie??

I know that Dr. Carl Nohr in Medicine Hat does open RNY and Dr. Doug Davey & Dr. Daniel Birch in Edmonton do both RNY and Lap Band. They all have long waiting lists though. The time does go by more quickly than you'd think though!
