Saskatchewan?
I don't know of any out in Sask. I know a few ladies that came out from Manitoba to Alberta for their surgery. I hear of a clinic opening in Winnipeg sometime.
We are very, very short on bariatric doctors. Get your name on a list ASAP, then if another clinic opens up you can always try there. The wait time in BC and Alberta is 3-4 years. 3 for consult, then about another year for surgery. One doctor - Farries in Red Deer books yearly, and if you are lucky, you can get in to see him in a year.
Hi Tammy:
As far as preparing yourself, you can start by researching the surgery and what foods to eat. But I think that getting yourself ready mentally is just as much of a challenge as the physical challenge. I have a friend who had the surgery done 3 years ago and she has been an inspiration. So try and hook up with someone and maybe you too can have a mentor.

Hi Amber;
I am from Saskatchewan too, and my doctor made my referral to Dr. Davey in Edmonton. THey asked if I would go to Bonnyville as it was quicker to get in and I said sure, and it was a way faster process to go there. I had my first appointment with Dr. Davey in March (he comes to Bonnyville two days a month). He wanted me to journal, see a dietician, and exercise and show results, by June (after 3 appointments) he put forth the surgury and I had the surgery at the end of August. The surgery is at the Royal Alex in Edmonton. Now I did not have the support of the bariatric dieticians in Edmonton until after the surgery, but now have met them since and had one follow up in Edmonton and one in Bonnyville.
Just another option,
Cindy
