We know have our own group: "December, 2013 RNY Buddies". It's a group where we can compare our experiences, support and encourage each other, and be a non-judgemental place to share and vent.
Click on "Community", then "Groups". On the search feature to find a specific group, type in December, 2013 RNY Buddies. There will be 3 pages of groups with similar titles. Our group is on the 3rd page. You will see our specific group name. It says it was formed by me(Dukemom), and has a photo of a woman on a balance scale.
Please come on over and join us. I figure we each need all the support we can get!

I haven't had my surgery date confirmed yet but I'm hoping for a December date. I'd like to join the group.
I am set for the 16th as well. It has been a long time coming and I am both nervous and excited. I feel a little guilty that I had the option of the 9th but picked the 16th because I wanted to enjoy Thanksgiving and not be on the liquid diet. Also I have every other Friday off and the 20th is my day off so I would only need to take 4 days of vacation. (I am going to try and go back to work after 1 week)

I'm on my way to Mayo for a day of pre-op appointments tomorrow (with another on next Tuesday). I'll get our group set up by Wednesday at the latest!

I think that's a great idea!
I like that we'd have a place to go to connect with people who are at the same point in the journey...and like you said, compare notes, etc.

We have a growing list of people having their surgery next month. Would anyone be interested if we form a group for ourselves (December, 2013 Surgery Buddies - or Pals, Friends or something else)? We'll have a lot in common and be going through similar things at the same time. I think it would be nice to have a group to go to and compare notes and support and encourage each other.

After six months of wrangling with the insurance company and jumping through all the hoops they put up, I finally have my surgery scheduled! December 18th is the day! Wow, December is going to be a killer month: My son is graduating from college on the 14th, Christmas on the 25th of course, and we're moving my father-in-law to an Alzheimer's care facility sometime in December as well. Ah, well, I guess it will all be worth it, and it should make the month fly by at the very least.
The date has been set, 4 weeks to go, and I'm ready!!! It's been a long road of yoyo dieting and losing/gaining. Finally I'm going to beat this obesity and become thin and healthy. I'm excited, nervous and scared, but so ready. I can't wait to see and feel the pounds melt away!
Congrats to everyone with an upcoming surgery....may you have a safe and speedy recovery.
