My date is December 20th, as well! I start my liquid diet on Sunday. I think it'll be "real" then.

The weight on the ticker is from the initial consult with my surgeon.

Topic: Dr Aceves, Mexicali, MX DEC 8th !!
Hi,

Having VSG on Dec 8th with Dr Alberto Aceves @ Almater Hospital in Mexicali, Mexico.  Would love to hear from anyone going around that time.  I'm traveling alone from northern New England.  Going down on Dec 7th and returning home on Dec 11th.  Hope to hear from you!

Topic: December 6th Surgery Date - RNY
I have been great about not being nervous about the whole process, but now that the date is coming up, I am getting a little bit antsy and nervous.

What really has me thinking all day, is the breathing tube that is going to be left in my airway after I leave the OR. My Dr leaves the tube in for about an hour or so and makes sure all his patients are breathing OK on their own before removing it.

Can someone please tell me about their experience with this if they were left with their tube in.

Thanks

SO EXCITED ABOUT MY SURGERY DATE!!!

It's been over 1 1/2 years in the process-- from 6 mos supervised diet to 18 weeks nutrition classes to insurance approval. I almost gave up about 5 months ago and paid out of pocket, because i was initially denied, had to gain weight, then appealed and got approval. Guess I'm glad now I stuck it thru and now finally...15 days countdown.
What a great Christmas gift!
The only thing is, I don't want my recovery to ruin Christmas for my kids (ages 8 & 10). They want to go out and do lots of Christmas shopping, meet Santa, eat out, etc.
Anybody else anxious about their surgery/recovery coinciding with Christmas???
