Pureed foods at 8 days post op?!?!?!?  I was put on a total liquid diet for 21 days.  The first 5 or 6 days was ok but now I am hungry all the time.  I drink 2 ozs. of a protein drink at the top of every hour and 2 oz. of liquid every 15 minutes during waking hours.

Ladies,
Being believers, you'll both appreciate this:

As I was driving to my initial consultation with the surgeon, I was praying for God's will to be done, but also for it to be clear to me.  I had to have surgery by the end of the year because my insurance is changing 1/1/11 and it will no longer be covered.  And was really fretting the he wouldn't be able to fit me in.

When the surgeon asked when I would like the surgery, I said "your medical assistant said you have 12/20 open".  He said "yes, the guy who was supposed to have surgery that day rescheduled this morning.'

WOW! Talk about making things clear for me!

Then I said "well now we know why, the date was being saved for me!"  He said "actually I think it was something to do with his wife's work schedule."  I said "that's what he thinks...." :D

Hi there.  I am new to this board.  I had been posting on thinnertimesforum.com.  I had Lap RNY on 12/9 at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY.  I am 8 days post op and I believe I am doing well.  I am tolerating pureed foods well and getting some walks in.  How is everyone else doing?

Mine is strictly protein shakes by Bariatric Advantage. Have been on them 8 days and have 4 days to go. Clear fluids the day before surgery, plus the lovely bottle of magnesium calcite I have to drink down -- not looking forward to that one bit!

Not a big fan of the protein shakes, but figure I can bite the bullet and get them down for the end result.

Vacillating between excitement and sheer terror, partly fueled by the long list of potential complications listed on the sheet given to me at my pre-admit. appointment. I know they have to list everything just in case, but I found myself looking everything up online to see what it was.

Luckily, I'm confident in my surgeon. Even emailed him with a long list of questions along the lines of "what if this happens," "what's the likelihood of this happening,", etc. He emailed me back within 2 hours!

Anyone else starting to hyperventilate a little?

I am 5 days post op, and i've lost my energy. although all the pain and discomfort has gone away. Unfortanely, i'm craving crackers, and eggs!? what is that!?

so of course yes i tried a cracker and a bite of an egg, and i did ok. but then that fullness came along with it so i was done. It's helped a bit i can tell. drinking anything still hits my stomach like a pile of rocks. Nothing goes down easy.

Yes every day does get better but you will have a few days in there where you just want to rest. i'm a fast healer and all my energy is gone to that.

Topic: pre-op diets differ?
I have been creeping around looking at other peoples posts regarding the pre-op diet. I am curious because apparently there are different pre-op diets (probably dependent on the physician's preference and/or BMI).  I am 40 BMI and Dr. Almanza.

I am on mostly clear liquids, sugar free juice, yogurt and jello. No solids whatsoever. The jello helps me feel like I'm "eating" something. I am dying for something different, especially since I know I'll be so limited after surgery.  At this point, chicken noodle soup sounds so yummy. I guess that it's the knowing that I'm not supposed to have it thats driving me nuts.

I tried a muscle milk protein shake yesterday. OMG... that has to be the grossest thing I've ever had. ick ick ick.
