Topic: RE: 12/15 How is Everyone Else Doing?
I'm 11 days out and moody because my weight loss has stopped.. I'll gain 2 pounds through the day and then it's back off the next morning.. When I first came home, I was losing a pound a day but now, it's stopped. I keep thinking that when I was on commercial diets and would quit losing for 2 weeks, I would go back to binge eating.. How long before I start seeing the weight come off again..
I go back to work this monday 1-3-11 but, I am excited about getting back to work where my "support" group is.
My mother n law brought over bodacious bbq last night. I kind of sneaked some brisquet, chewed it up, sucked out the juices and then spit out the meat. (I'm such a bad person)

Topic: RE: Home from the hospital - surgery 12-20-10
My surgery was on the 21st of December. I had to stay an extra day in the hospital because my blood pressure kept sky rocketing. I came home on the 23rd of December.
11 days post op today.
I'm feeling a lot better now, I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and actually walked the store although I was really tired and my left side was irritated. This morning my left upper rib cage (front and back) is hurting when I cough.
I went to GNC yesterday and got some unflavored whey protein because I told the Dr. that all the protein I was introduced to was "sweet" and I have never been a sweet eater, I'm more of a garlic and pasta type person so, I found this great tasting bouillon in the bouillon section at Wal-Mart called "Better than bouillon" (also comes in beef flavor). It's crazy how much better this bouillon tastes compared to the regular stuff. I add my unflavored protein to the chicken bouillon and it's like a cream of chicken and has been the only thing I can drink. I add 1 scoop per bowl of soup twice a day and have no problem getting in my protein.
I've decided that plain water wasn't cutting it so, I got some of the diet V-8 splash to get my fluids in, I can't even tell it's diet.(wonderful)
I'm at a standstill on my weight though. I don't think I will ever get down below 240. I've been stuck at this weight for 3 days now, If anyone reads in the forums about how long it takes for the weight to start coming off again, please let me know.
Miralax in warm liquids is great also to help move your bowels, tasteless and works on me the same day.
Please share your future days with me and any new good drinks and foods we can have

Topic: RE: returning to work
It really depends on what kind of job you have to go back to...if it is a sit down job and you are proceeding well...you could theoretically go back a week out...at two weeks you should be okay...again if it is a primarily nonlabor intensive type job. Proteins can best be done via a shake (it counts as your liquid too). The one thing you really need to do for yourself if you have a hectic schedule is to plan your "meals" in advance.

Yum! I don't have a puree stage required, but I do move to soft proteins in the 2nd week (from clear liquids). I can't imagine a soft protein food that sounds better than ricotta with meatballs (and a little marinara sauce). I was told that I have to wait 4 months before trying beef, lamb, or pork, but I think I'll ask if ground beef is ok (I figure that might go down more easily).
Topic: RE: December 20 in my RNY date
Hi,
I also had RNY surgery on December 20th. It went well. I was on a clear liquid diet in the hospital but my doctor told me to go on soft/blended foods after that. Things like greek yogurt, blended soups and so on. I am struggling getting enough protein in. I stopped the pain meds on day 4 and moved to tylanol. I stopped the tylanol as well on Christmas day. I don't have any pain anymore but I get tired pretty easy.
Glad to hear from others who share the same surgery day and out their faith in God as well.
Hope you have a Happy New Year

I am itching like crazy too! I was told showering is fine, no baths or swimming. I was also told not to pull off the steri-strips, but let them fall off naturally. Argh! :)
Moving is much easier except for bending over, but I have very little energy.

Topic: RE: pre-op diets differ?
Yes the pre op diets differ depending on the surgeon, your starting bmi, and how likely you are to have a swollen liver due to fatty liver. If your liver is fat it makes the surgery harder for the surgeon and more dangerous for you. I was on protien shakes for 10 days with only a bowl of salad ( without the junk on it) or a bowl of veggies, lol I didnt even get meat or anythng.
