Topic: Severe Cramps - Mid & Upper back pain
Well, I have learned something new today... Just because the books say it is normal to have a bowel movement 1-2 a week is not always the case.
I called my doctors office last week because I was having severe cramps in my abdomen, nausea but no vomiting and really bad back pain in my mid and upper back. They have scheduled me another scope for the 25th of this month.
I had a co worker come in and ask me how often I was having bowel movements.. Told him 1 to 2 times a week. He shook his head and said NO, If you have water and food going straight through your system and not sitting in a stomache for hours on end then you should be going more than that so.....
I figured it would not hurt anything to dose myself up on some Milk of Magnesia and suppositories.
By the next morning.. I had crapped out 2 lbs.
Usually the pains would start around 3-4 in the evening but, last night I did not have a pain or cramp one. I am so thankful to my co-workers for looking out for me.
Now I just need to call my doctors office and let them know that I have fixed my problem. So, for any of you out there that are having stomach cramps, nausea and possible back pain.. check into how many times you are having bowel movements.

Four weeks have now past. I feel fine, on soft foods, but still get little "crampy" sensations in my tummy.
I have lost 30 pounds. My goal is to lose 45 more. Just now I am beginning to see some of the weight loss - mostly in my face. However, I think I'm getting a saggy double chin and I can't afford a face lift! We'll see what happens!
A few days ago I had to buy a new belt. My trousers kept falling down. Yes, there is proof now the weight is coming off.

Thanks to all of you for your reply. I feel best when I don't eat or drink and I know that is not an option-
One day at a time :-)
The good news is I am down 98 pounds since I started at the wieght center in June - 77 pounds pre surgery and 21 post op.

Hi, I had my RNY Dec. 21, 2010 (4 weeks out)
I have had the same problem with nausea only I also have cramping (as if I had taken 4 x-lax). I called my doctor yesterday because the cramps get so bad I feel like I am dying. She said that I might have some extra scar tissue where they sewed up the small intestines. She said that the whole for food to pass through is supposed to be perfectly round but, it's common for scar tissue to block of the intestine causing cramps/pain and nausea.
I am waiting on the gastriointestenal (spelling) doctors office to call me with an appointment to get an upper gi done to find out what the problem is.
Everytime I drink or eat, just as soon as I swallow, I get cramps and then nausea and I seem to be nauseated all the time. Hopefully it will get better soon
Good luck and let us know what it is when you find out
Kathy

Hi, things are ok...still can not eat much. but I guess that was the point of having the surgery...lol I am going to see the doctor tomorrow because I still am having some trouble with thowing up and keeping things down at times and this is also my follow up appointment. I want to start working out but I waited until I saw the doctor so I can get the ok...I have lost 27 pounds so far. Let me know how you have been doing!

In the beginning I found out that I was doing TOO much protein. So what I started doing was replacing two of my protein shakes with a healthy snack instead.
I also have added a little big of peanut butter in my morning protein shake. A spike in calories for a few days can get your metabolism going and help you lose weight faster...
I too have problems getting all my water in. Its hard to drink that much now.... You really have to focus on drinking.... That is something that I can improve on greatly!
Topic: RE: ALways feel like I am going to throw up
I had the Sleeve on 12/16 and sometimes i do get the sensation of vomiting....
What I am trying to do is eat slower, chew more and walk when I feel that feeling coming on.
It does help. It is taking my brain longer to realize how much I can eat, and how fast....
Hang in there! It should get better!
